Role Summary:

The Human Resources and Recruiting Manager is responsible for human resources field support for our truck team members at our Manhattan franchise. This role is central in imparting HR expertise to management personnel and influencing organizational change of our “culture forward” approach that focuses on positive employee relations, enabling strategic alignment, and being a proactive culture advocate! In collaboration with the Junior Recruiter would be responsible for managing the full life-cycle recruitment process by creating an exceptional employee experience and finding innovative ways of attracting the right candidates. For us its all about the people so this person should be a high-energy, passionate person who is proactive and shows a genuine interest in each employee. Additionally, this person will ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and operating procedures. The role will also involve working in different facets critical in small business: operations, fleet, sales, marketing, and administration.

Location - Bronx, NY 10451
Compensation - $55,000 + Bonus Potential

Key responsibilities of this position will include (but not be limited to):
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee all aspects of employee relations; work with the operations team to ensure course correction and coaching documentation is administered appropriately as per our Company policies.
  • Oversee recruiting and staffing process with Junior Recruiter; design and implement employee retention strategies
  • Implement and facilitate new hire orientation and other training programs (face-to-face, or computer-based training) as required.
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
  • Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, terminating employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Monitor processes and ensure accurate maintenance of employee records both digitally and office filing; input new hire data in ADP and managing ATS system along with Junior Recruiter.
  • Develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for why employee is leaving the organization.
  • Achievement of all HR related goals and metrics to gauge the effectiveness of various HR responsibilities and initiatives.
To qualify, candidates must possess:
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, provide feedback, and re-train employees.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 to 3 years of HR generalist experience with a strong background in employee relations
  • At least 2 years of recruitment work experience with a proven track record; to include high volume resume review, phone screening and interviewing.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft office programs, Google Suite, Slack, HR systems and Applicant Tracking systems are required.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably ADP TotalSource.
  • Knowledge of current HR trends, functions, policies, and practices.
  • Must possess solid knowledge of Federal and State laws regarding employment practices.
  • Demonstrated success in analyzing HR metrics and providing thoughtful, creative recommendations for action.
  • Demonstrated experience working with employee relations issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHR and/or SPHR; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certifications.
