Billing Coordinator

As the Billing Coordinator, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate billing for behavioral health services to various health plans and state entities. May also assist with answering the phone, verifying insurance, and other office duties.

 

Responsibilities

  • Submit Sage Social Services Mental Health Billing
    • Assist in submitting Sage’s billing in a timely and accurate manner
    • Submit Billing to Secondary Insurance and Tertiary Insurances
    • Submit EAP Billing
    • Entering / Reconciling Insurance’s EOB
    • Reprocessing denied claims

Secondary - Verification of Clients Billing on Therapy Notes

  • Check client’s insurance on appropriate web portals-Before Submitting
  • Verify units billed in therapy notes coincide with intake/notes turned in by Counselor
    • Ensure units billed do not exceed what is listed on “Allowable Units Reference Guide”
    • Correct any errors
  • Update Client Information
    • Request authorization from counselors when needed
  • Notify counselors of any client insurance changes thru email
  • Process Credit Cards, Checks and provide receipts for Counselors.
  • Answer Phones
  • Verify Eligibility of Referrals (as needed)
    • Verify clients’ insurance ID number (Medicaid, BCBS, CHIPS, etc…)
    • Find out if client has co-payment
    • Find out if deductibles have been met
    • Find out if insurance requires authorization
    • Request where needed
    • Generate co-payment invoices
    • Assign to appropriate counselor
    •  Update therapy notes
  • Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance during work hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of medical billing experience.
  • Ability to problem solve in a proactive, creative manner while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently within a virtual operating environment and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency; must be able to type and navigate a Cloud-based environment and designated teleconferencing application.
  • Advanced Excel Experience Microsoft Office 

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of Behavioral Health billing experience
  • Familiarity with Medicaid/Medicare/Commercial Insurance practices
