What does an Full Control Bookkeeper/Assistant Controller do at companies like 1933 GROUP?

The 1933 Group is a well established and continually growing Los Angeles based corporation. We are looking for a Bookkeeper with prior experience in a multi-unit hospitality operation who is well-versed in all aspects of financial management, ranging from simple accounting to investment and banking operations. We need someone that will roll up their sleeves and assist with A/P, Journal Entries, etc. and who is willing to take charge of all aspects of the business. You must have knowledge of how to make budgets & cash-flow statements. This individual will report directly to the Controller and be based out of Culver City.

Key Responsibilities for the Position:

• Supervise Accounts Payable through PlateIQ via invoice matching, coding, payments to vendors, and vendor records maintenance.
• Manage multiple location payables and oversee online payroll.
• Vendor communication, reconciliation, and discrepancies.
• Review all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure.
• Prepare sales journal and reconcile tips, GrubHub/Doordash/UberEats payments, Gift Cards, Event Deposits, etc.
• Perform administrative activities, including filing, emailing, license/permits, and copying of documents.
• Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
• Prepare month-end accruals, maintain fixed asset schedule, and deprecation.
• Review general ledger accounts and inter-company accounts.
• Supervise the transition of accounting records to a paperless system.
• Manage office staff

Qualified Candidates Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Ops required MBA preferred.
• 5+ years’ of senior-level Finance Manager/Analyst with proven experience, multi-unit retail/hospitality environment increasing in management responsibility.
• Strong intermediate to expert skills in Excel, SAP, and PowerPoint.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP, debits and credits, accruals, etc.
• Familiarity with standard Accounting software application.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized.
• Previous experience handling multiple sets of books.
• Team players, with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Must be flexible and willing to tackle new projects.
