Position Summary

829 Studios is seeking a B2B specialized Copywriter who can develop marketing content that seamlessly blends a distinct brand essence with SEO-friendly structure. We're looking for an individual who specializes in crafting copy and strategy for any company that sells products or services to other businesses or organizations. 829's Copywriters expertly balance the needs of our clients and their audiences through valuable, conversion-oriented website architecture and content.  As part of our Digital Marketing team, you can toe the line between marketer and writer. You will participate in audience research to understand the customer journey and their various touchpoints with our clients. You'll then generate ideas and craft the copy that will live on through campaigns, social media, website, and strategy presentations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Craft copy for a variety of brands and organizations. Working across different industries excites you. You'll refresh existing content or prepare new copy that fulfills business goals and resonates with the target audience. The copy we're producing typically explains a product or service – this position does not require significant article or editorial copywriting.
  • Keep SEO in mind. You have an awareness of SEO best practices and familiarity with keyword research tools, which will help inform your recommendations and the structure of your work. Many of our websites use the "pillar page" concept for driving organic traffic.
  • Conduct audits.  You will conduct content audits to determine what exists today, what needs to be rewritten, and what will need to be created. 
  • Develop relationships with clients.  You know everything about your clients' goals, personalities and priorities. You prepare thorough questions and synthesize the insights into innovative human-centered content strategies. You can empathetically work through feedback and revisions.
  • Do the research. Conduct research through interviews, workshops, surveys, and any other format that gets you the insights you need.
  • Proofread your work. While we work professional proofreaders on many occasions, you are expected to produce polished, error-free work.
  • Maintain best practices. Ensure that protocols are being followed. Evolve processes, offerings, deliverable formats and when you see opportunities to make improvements.
  • Day-to-day. Responsibilities will include the conceptualization, creation, and upkeep of a wide array of deliverables including emails, web pages, event signage, video and print copy, informative guides, and other ad hoc creative pieces.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least two years of experience in a full-service digital agency is preferred. While we will consider candidates with in-house experience, an agency background is preferred. 
  • 2 - 4 years of hands-on professional B2B and Marketing writing experience.
  • A portfolio that clearly exhibits the ability focus on B2B or a blend of B2B and B2C copywriting is required for this role.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • An understanding of how websites are built using waterfall and agile processes, and the awareness to collaborate with designers, developers and other personnel when necessary.
  • An understanding of integrated digital marketing and its various components. The foresight and understanding to loop in additional marketing disciplines beyond web when appropriate.
  • Previous SaaS-based product writing a plus.

COVID Update

The overwhelming majority of our team is working remotely due to COVID. While our office is open with guidelines for social distancing, hygiene and capacity, we are encouraging our team to work from home for the foreseeable future.
