SummaryThis position will assist the Office of Community Engagement (OCE) and Brand, specifically Senior Advisors on the Community & Strategy Integration (CSI) team and Senior Brand Strategist by supporting the work around an Association Strategic Priority that focuses on engaging local communities.
One of the main objectives of this Priority is to connect with specialized and hard-to reach audiences. In 2020, the priority is local Hispanic/Latino (H/L) engagement because of the development of a 3-year strategy with the goal of building familiarity, relevance, and trust among this audience. In addition, the Priority is working on tools to ensure AARP reaches and connects with other multicultural audiences including African American/Black (AA/B), Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) and American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN.
Activities for the intern will include a combination of communications, outreach, analysis and administrative duties such as attending meetings, reviewing research, and writing that support the various multicultural audiences listed above.
ResponsibilitiesThe internship will support the following tasks:
Prospective intern must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post doctorate students.
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
