In the role of Associate Business System Consultant, the candidate will partner closely with Abbott corporate business units to identify IT business requirements while partnering with IT to ensure business needs can be met.  The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with Corporate Quality & Regulatory, Corporate Engineering, and Global Security, aligning the demands and supply between these groups along with IT.  The Associate Business System Consultant is involved early in potential business IT investment decisions to understand business requirements and advocate IT involvement needed to meet business objectives.  This role will also incorporate aspects of Service Management into the overall job responsibilities.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of business objectives, goals and attitudes toward IT and articulate the value IT can bring within the organization.
• Proactively identify areas of opportunity to apply IT for new business opportunities, process improvement and cost efficiencies.  
• Provide insight to the corporate business units on how to best develop and leverage IT capabilities to support current and future business needs.
• Advocates for the corporate business units by effectively communicating business needs to IT to drive effective solutions.  Identify and develop business requirements, track opportunities for future solutions, and align business IT priorities across the business.        
• Develop and maintain relationship and action plans for corporate business organizations and participate in periodic reviews with business of IT services and value delivery.
• Develop and maintain 12-month plans for IT services and projects across supported organizations.
• Capture in-flight and upcoming IT demand and user requirements for key business initiatives.
• Develop governance processes for corporate business units, including the identification and prioritization of projects prior to entering the intake process.
• Act as the point of escalation for business teams regarding IT activity, including business demand and intake.
• Facilitate and track funding allowances for business funded projects.  Ensures quarterly and annual project demand planning processes are completed.  Tracks portfolio of projects to measure delivery timeliness and impact of project changes.
• Lead the Quality & Regulatory Community of Practice for IT, driving the outcomes within the group including the annual development and delivery of the business Quality and Regulatory IT Road-maps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of IT experience in large or mid-sized multinational healthcare organization.
• Strong influence and negotiating skills
• Strong interdisciplinary, and excellent intercultural influence, and networking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Broad IT background in various disciplines like system development, setting IT strategy and business IT alignment desired.
• Strong project management and organizational skills desired.
• Experience with GxP validation desired.
• Relevant business process knowledge, as related to IT.  Experience with Corporate/Headquarters business units desired.
