Responsible for design for cost of reagents and active pharmaceutical ingredients.  Must utilize analytical methods to determine the should cost of the current products (made or bought) and then pivot to understand what changes are required to reach the lowest possible could cost. Technical expert, who independently investigates, identifies, develops and optimizes new methods, processes, or techniques to address design to cost targets. Can assist in writing protocols, reports, and amendments; performing validations for methods, processes or equipment; coordinating with collaborators to execute protocols and studies; and continuously seeks to improve existing methods and processes.

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Independently design, execute experiments, studies or process improvement plans.
  • Interpret results critical to answer scientific questions and recognize aberrant test results or adverse trends.
  • Learn, understand and master new techniques or processes, and act as a resource for others.
  • Innovate and implement new experimental protocols, studies or operational processes.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in his/her field.
  • Set and meet timelines.
  • Effectively organize and present work.
  • Contribute to writing and conceptual framework of operating procedures, regulatory submissions, impact assessments, publications, presentations, and patents.
  • Understand the broad objectives of project and goals as well as their role in achieving those objectives.
  • Be able to modify plan when required, to respond. Routinely read and apply relevant literature or regulatory requirements.
  • Impact projects mostly through project plans or lab-based activities.

Strategic Thinking:

  • Provides advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
  • Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide appropriate supporting documentation for purchases.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and leads agreed purchasing strategies for category
  • Seek, develop and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers
  • Meet regularly with divisional customers and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies.
  • Responsible for performance management of all supportive personnel (non-exempts)

Leading People:

  • Responsible for leading and mentoring Associate Specialist and Specialist procurement personnel. Provides guidance and training to Specialist.
  • Understand and apply cultural awareness with foreign business entities
  • Drive and grow strong effective business relationships with suppliers, clients and customers.

Compliance:

  • Responsible to drive compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.

Accountability:

  • Executes against the goals set by the Category Leads /Managers/Directors
  • Drive innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels.

Minimum Experience/Training Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field, plus minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work
  • experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must have complete
  • understanding of specified functional area. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in industry with method development / validation expertise in chromatography, mass spectrometry,
  • UV-visible spectroscopy and in-vitro dissolution in a cGMP environment. Serve as a significant resource of
  • technical information, laboratory techniques or operation processes, and openly express ideas and opinions.
  • Act as a mentor. Interact with peers and groups outside project boundaries. Teach, advise and lead by
  • example. Contribute and/or co-author scientific or technical papers and/or patents. Present posters at national
  • scientific meetings when appropriate.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
