Position Summary:
The Energy Center Operator is responsible for providing all utilities for the Ross Park site, including electric, water, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, air conditioning and fire protection and to operate and perform routine maintenance on Energy Center equipment. The incumbent must be able to perform all duties with minimal or no supervision.
Main Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED, 4 years of work related energy center operations experience and a 3rd Class State of Ohio Stationary Engineer's License. Experience is required due to nature of the staffing schedule currently in use at Ross Park, where round the clock operation's coverage is achieved with four operators on a rotating shift basis. Due to their schedule, the operator is the only maintenance/operations person on site for about 70% of the time, including the night shifts and weekends. An experienced operator is required due to the lack of current staffing that would allow for an inexperienced operator to be adequately training to operate safely alone. Four years related experience is defined as operating energy center type equipment such as boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic control systems in a similar environment or performing tasks similar to or the same as those required in this position. Must be able to diagnose and repair the problem without shutting the site down or jeopardizing site operations such as MIS or R&D.
