Industrial Hygiene Manager

The working manager will apply strong technical knowledge and skills to perform data analysis, interpret results, develop strategy and implement actions within area of responsibilities as well as lead Abbott’s Global Industrial Hygiene program.  This person must be able to distill complex technical issues into clear and concise communications to senior leaders.

Candidates for this position must have strong technical / science skills with understanding of industrial hygiene treatment technologies, environmental reporting, data systems and methodologies.  The person must keep abreast of current Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) trends and practices and be a visionary for improving current processes, making them more efficient and effective to prepare Abbott for the future.

  • Be responsible for the continuous improvement of all industrial hygiene programs globally.
  • Develop Industrial Hygiene (IH) center of excellence.
  • Provide expert level assessment support at Abbott sites globally and improve understanding of Industrial Hygiene (IH).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development, advancement and implementation of the industrial hygiene strategy
  • Advancing core industrial hygiene programs to manage EHS risks including;

  • Exposure Risk Assessments, Chemical Hygiene and Hazard Communications.
  • Biosafety Management.
  • Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation and personal protective equipment
  • Radiation, Indoor Air Quality and Temperature Extremes.
  • Provide recommended exposure control strategies for all areas of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years of direct experience in industrial hygiene and environmental health and safety.
  • Global business exposure
  • Strong skills in Excel and database applications
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Highly regulated industry experience is preferred
