WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to the DTS Director responsible for Strategic Digital Programs, this role is a full spectrum IT program leadership role focused on the development of current and next generation digital solutions as well as managing programs to reduce the overall technical debt of the organization.  This role is responsible for successful delivery of large-scale programs and projects on a global basis across one or more of our divisions.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Initiate and Plan IT Projects

  • Works with business and IT management to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives, and deliverables
  • Partner with Business and IT leaders to drive digital business needs, use cases and prioritization

Project Delivery

  • Manage external and internal delivery partners to ensure project scope, objectives and milestones are met.
  • Manage the delivery of Strategic Digital and technical debt projects with responsibility for Quality, Costs, Delivery and Risk
  • Building a customer obsessed culture that focuses on customer success as its primary goal
  • Develops and executes a work plan obtaining authorized resources to ensure all project activities are performed. 
  • Establish frameworks to track milestones, goals and objectives, communicate progress and help identify issues early on
  • Assess the degree to which changes to scope, issues and risks will affect projects, working with department and division management and sponsor to gain agreement for resolution
  • Measure project financials to ensure project is progressing as compared to the original plan and budget
  • Lead program governance to align on risk, issues, and decisions for all projects including scope management and vendor escalations
  • Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support to Project Team, Division, Cross Division and Executive Management. 
  • Makes recommendations based on current project status to resolve issues.
  • Provide Agile best practices across the organization
  • Provide guidance on SLC to the projects teams in alignment with Abbott policy
  • Develop processes that improve team productivity

Resource and Team Management

  • Coordinate resources to ensure project needs are addressed and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based on their abilities
  • Manages, motivates and mentors cross-functional/cross-divisional project team of developers and validation analysts
  • Enables One IT culture, one team, once voice, one goal of delivery excellence

Accountability

  • Manages projects at the department, division, or enterprise level
  • Makes strategic decisions that impact department or Divisions/sites. Final decision authority for project level budget and activities
  • Direct Budgetary Responsibility:  0-$8M or greater
  • Business Impact and Risk:  0-$9M in business financial impact.  Mission critical/strategic to business.  Division, multi-Division, or Enterprise affected

Minimum Education/ Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in project management, business systems analysis, or software development; preferred experience in delivering IT solutions in an enterprise digital and e-commerce landscape
  • Experience or familiarity with technologies and best practices in areas not limited to: Customer experience, Business Intelligence, marketing/sales automation, web content management, e-commerce, PCI, mobile solutions, social engagement and health care
  • Excellent track record in delivering cross functional programs
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presenting, meeting facilitation, negotiation, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of software development practices (e.g. Agile/Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
  • Knowledge of quality processes
  • Experience working in matrix global organization where success requires broad orchestration of resources and services
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated business (e.g. validated software related to medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences products) and PCI regulated business is preferred
  • Financial skills and process skills; an understanding of the company's financial practices and goals and ability to manage team’s financials
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively approach business problems and establish course of action
  • Experience working in matrix global organization with strategic sourcing partners where success requires broad orchestration of resources and services
