The primary purpose of this role is to develop, implement and manage education initiatives that align to and drive business strategy of Abbott Neuromodulation, and manager the operations team for education.  Individual will work closely with the CPT and DBS sales and marketing leaders to align initiatives that are developed, executed and measured for HCP engagement and impact.  Individual is a key player in implementing and identifying business needs for Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) to deliver strategic message for peer to peer programs and other educational programs. Individual will oversee Professional Relations, with responsibility for HCP consulting agreements, HCP payments, and reporting HCP spend within scope of responsibilities.

The Manager of Customer Education understands and appreciates key opinion leaders and their role in supporting the business of Abbott Neuromodulation.  The manager is responsible for integrating the business needs of ANMD with the potential talent pool of health care professionals (physicians, nurses and dietitians) in academia, institutions, and professional organizations/societies. The manager fosters the relationship of KOL's with Abbott and supports our business strategies for education.  The manager must be able to effectively communicate to health care professionals, foster and support the relationships and recommend approaches to most effectively leverage business needs with health care professionals via educational strategies.

This position has the responsibility to ensure that internal and external strategic stakeholders have a clear understanding of the strategic objectives and goals as outlined by ANMD Leadership. In collaboration with commercial teams and medical affairs, this individual works to deliver consistent and engaging content that supports the ANMD global growth objectives.

Job Duties:

  • In collaboration with multiple stakeholders (Education, Marketing, R&D, Sales, etc.), develops, implements and executes new and continuing customer education
  • Adapts, implements and executes curricula and training content through multiple channels to develop clinical competence and technical knowledge.
  • Executes continuing education for physicians, fellows, and other customers through customized education programs in the field and at national programs.
  • Develops metrics to assess effectiveness of educational programs and quickly implements changes to educational programs as needed.
  • Engages field organization through periodic visits to understand the current selling, competitive, clinical and healthcare environment and makes necessary changes to the curriculum to ensure customers are adequately trained.
  • Oversees the process to ensure training materials and delivery strategies are updated and relevant to the needs of our customers through cross functional collaboration
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of Abbott products, therapies, customers and business objectives to develop, implement and execute educational programs
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
  • Supervises activities of Customer Education personnel with regards to program oversight and operations. Oversees personnel and ensures activities related to scheduling, logistics, reconciliation of the quarterly program budget, and compliance within the Legal and Regulatory environment are met.
  • Monitors the budget through quarterly analyses of departmental spending, program costs, operating expenses, and resource allocation.
  • Determines and develops annual reports that demonstrates relevant metrics.

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience — COA, COT or COMT certification preferred --will enhance ability
  • 5-7 years in clinical applications role or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years in industry
  • Minimum 3+ years of clinical experience
  • 1+ year clinical RL training experience
  • Annual certification required by Medical Monitor as well as Supervisor
  • All the above are required to assess total procedure events as well as technology interface requirements
  • Occasional or regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position
  • Travel required, up to 40%.
