Position Summary:

We are recruiting for a Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis – Canada and Latin America.  You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of annual budgets and periodic forecast updates, provide financial analysis and strategic planning and support to operating managers, budgeting and operations planning, and performance monitoring and variance analysis. You will also assist in financial evaluation of future business opportunities, perform ROI and payback analysis on new products and major capital expenditures, and manage internal investor relations function.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads financial planning and analysis for Canada and Latin America (CALA) Structural Heart (SH) division.
  • Identifies and closely monitors key leading indicators for division to alert of disruptive trends, opportunities for sales increase and/or operational efficiencies.
  • Supports ongoing process improvement and margin enhancement initiatives in CALA.
  • Develops the financial forecasts known as the rolling Latest Best Estimates (LBE) and LBE Confirmations (LBEC) in accordance with the schedules and guidelines issued by management.  Ensures all forecasting activities, headcount, operating expenses, and projects are planned for and updated appropriately during each planning cycle.
  • Leads the CALA SH review of all LBEs and challenges country LBE Sales and Division Margin submissions and identifying areas of opportunity or risk.
  • Provides insightful analysis of CALA Region Sales, Other Cost of Goods Sold (OCOGS) and Opex variances to the prior estimates and provides planning guidance to country FP&A teams as needed. 
  • Supports the Country FP&A Teams with planning tools and training on the systems used for forecasting.
  • Prepares a monthly executive summary of country results, metrics performance and bridge of major variances.  Prepares presentation schedules, charts, and analysis for review meetings or ad hoc analysis
  • Develops close partnership with the CALA Marketing organization to provide financial oversight of incurred and planned expenses and assess financial impact of marketing initiatives
  • Develops close partnership with global peers to benchmark CALA forecasting processes and adopt best practices, tools and templates as needed.
  • Reviews journal postings to the cost centers in the CALA HQ and CALA Marketing organizations to ensure balanced control of investments, properly communicating deviations and capturing modifications on LBEs
  • Reviews proposed project capital for both financial reasonableness and adherence to financial objectives.
  • Models optimum leadership competencies to inspire an energized, empowered and accountable work force.
  • Assists with the strategic direction of the SH organization, focusing on customer satisfaction and continuous process improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline
  • 6+ years of progressive financial planning, budgeting and analysis experience, including modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, data mining, performing financial consolidations, and financial reporting
  • Documented record of delivering accurate financial information that adds value to management’s decision-making process.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivots, what if/sum if, etc) and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced level degree
  • Previous experience working in a large, publicly held organization
  • Bilingual Spanish-English as well as working knowledge of Portuguese
  • Experience with Essbase and Business Objects
