Position Summary

The Regional Sales Manager will lead a dynamic sales team responsible for generating sales in the disruptive, growing point of care diagnostics industry. The sales cycle is highly-complex and involves multiple stakeholders across several hospital service lines. You will be responsible for providing leadership through direction, motivation, coaching, skill development, and knowledge sharing to lead your team to execute sales strategies that result in financial goal attainment, strong customer loyalty and staff development. You will continue Abbott’s 130+ year tradition of bringing new products and technologies to the world that create more possibilities for more people at all stages of life.

Position Territory/Location

  • The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for a region that’s comprised of the following locations: North Carolina (small portion of the state), Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland (small portion of the state), and Ohio (i.e., Dayton, Columbus & Cincinnati).
  • Qualified candidates must currently reside in the aforementioned region near a major airport.
  • Relocation assistance is not authorized for this position.

Position Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop and mentor extraordinary sales professionals who execute complex, long-term sales strategies in large, high-priority opportunities that address customer pain-points and maximize long-term partnerships with Abbott Point of Care (APOC)
  • Ensure achievement of sales and commercial objectives across assigned region
  • Profitably manage P&L; effectively and efficiently manage administrative duties
  • Synthesize customer and competitor insights, market and industry challenges, and APOC product solutions to drive long-term strategies and foster long-term customer relationships
  • Partner with internal colleagues to ensure your customers meet or exceed contractual obligations
  • Ability to travel up to 50% in assigned region and other business locations in the USA.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • The Regional Sales Manager will lead a team of seven (7) Medical Device Sales Specialists.

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of diagnostics, point of care (POC), lab, or capital equipment sales experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading, developing, training, and mentoring direct reports.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% in assigned region and other business locations in the USA.

Preferred Position Qualifications

  • Proven leader, trainer, and mentor of sales professionals within the hospital sales industry.
  • Documented history of being a consistent sales overachiever (i.e., President’s Club winner).
  • Consistently ranks among the top 20% in peer sales group.
  • Has established contacts at IDN's and Hospital Systems within assigned region.
  • Possesses strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) skills.
  • Highly proficient at using the Salesforce.com, or similar, CRM platform.
  • Attended multiple sales training courses (e.g., Challenger, Miller Heiman, etc.) and is an active user of one or multiple effective sales methodologies.
