The Opportunity

Our location in Irving, Texas currently has an opportunity for a Specialist Quality Assurance within the Core Diagnostics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

What You’ll Work On

  • Provide evaluations of internal site level supplier quality processes and recommend/implement improvement initiatives
  • Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of Abbott supplier procedures and forms
  • Proactively communicates quality issues to suppliers as needed through supplier corrective action requests and technical discussions
  • Manage supplier performance scorecard and metrics
  • Manage supplier evaluation process
  • Participate in or lead teams in supporting supplier development/improvement quality programs
  • May participate in supplier audits, internal audits or external audits as needed
  • Interacts constructively with employees, managers and cross-functional peers.
  • Completes compliant documentation and provides solutions to local problems of low scope and complexity.
  • Supports project work and acts as community member.
  • Quality System Compliance - Maintains awareness of industry regulatory standards.
  • Ensures compliance to site level policies and procedures by promptly reporting non-compliance issues to the department manager.
  • Works effectively within the team.
  • Design Control / Documentation & Change Control - Identifies needs and provide reasons and justifications in support of change.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
  • General - Budgets own time to carry out assigned duties that support business goals.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (±16 years) In Life Science, Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience..

Preferred skills and knowledge

  • 0 to 3 years Quality or related field experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of regulatory requirements in the healthcare environment
