The Opportunity

The Strategic Initiatives Manager is responsible for driving business sustainability at the Altavista site as part of site leadership team by identifying by assisting in defining the strategic vision of the site and implementing/executing those initiatives through expansion and enhancement critical projects.  This person will assist and help identify and initiate interactions amongst all the site stakeholders to progressively enhance performance and growth in alignment with our True North platforms and  excelerate. Provide strategic input into the development and execution of strategic plans to optimize the sites short term plans with long term strategy.  

What You’ll Work On

  • Provide strategic guidance and input for commercial and clinical strategies that impact costs of medical devices and therapy technology solutions by assisting with trial design economic modelling Provide strategic input into Plan and LRP strategies and forecasts for pipeline products.
  • Keep Management aware of developments and maintain buy-in throughout the collaboration process while ensuring that coordination and communication occurs at all stages.
  • Make specific actionable recommendations to Site Director and SLT on strategic opportunities to maximize growth and performance at the site sustainable.
  • This role will be responsible for identifying new initiatives that will affect the entire business unit organization with the goal of leveraging the base business and optimize strategy to deliver on financial, compliance, and cultural sustainability.
  • This position will report directly to the site director, Altavista.
  • This role will be responsible for identifying new initiatives that will affect the entire Altavista site or with the goal of leveraging base business and optimize new initiatives and ensure their realization.  The incumbent will be a SLT member and partner with OpEx, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Material Control, EHS, and all other support and division functions in order to drive projects to closure and sustain a world class culture.
  • Specific recommendations based on comprehensive opportunity assessments will result in direct annual improvement and drive sustainability in areas of finance, operations, quality, capital improvements, growth, people, and enterprise excellence .The recommendations will have direct impact on short-term and long-term profitability and performance.
  • The site SI Manager is responsible not just for ideation and alignment of ideas for site improvement but also to oversee the execution of those initiatives and implementation as decided on by the SLT.  This can include short term tactical plans for improvement and/or long term strategic plans for growth and sustainability.
  • The SI manager be required to justify projects in alignment with engineering and capital and will have a basic understanding of financial operation, business acumen, Data Analysis, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • The SI manager is expected to be a champion and steward for progress in the site as it aligns with enterprise excellence.  Projects and initiatives can be quantitative (i.e. OEE improvement plans) or qualitative (i.e. engagement/cultural survey improvements).  Depending on the nature of the project and impact/business need.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., and M.B.A.) preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 years relevant business experience (inclusive of proven ability to develop strategies that link commercial opportunities with clinical evidence), including but not limited to Strategic Planning, Project Management, Continuous Improvement, and indirect leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and management experience.
  • Executive must have a sound understanding of the nutrition business and should have analytical and extrapolative thinking and influencing skills. Specifically, this person must have broad,  in depth understanding of the Altavista site operations.
