The role

We are seeking an experienced marketing analyst who is a self-starter and has a passion for uncovering data-driven insights to join our commercial marketing team for Abbott’s industry-leading chronic pain and neurological disorder therapies portfolio.

As a core member of the downstream marketing team, you will be responsible for uncovering and sharing key business insights throughout the organization and up to executive leadership to help drive strategy. This process requires you to have exceptional technical and communication skills, be intellectually curious, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about telling stories with data.

Main Responsibilities

  • Market Data
    • Develop detailed financial forecasts incorporating historic, trended and current business information
    • Collect, process, analyze and present relevant global market data, including market share
    • Support global marketing team by proposing account and product mix targets using appropriate market data
  • Performance dashboards
    • Develop performance dashboards for different product pipelines: product lifecycle, product mix, pricing trends, forecasting, share etc.
    • Implement reporting tools to help sales and marketing organizations to understand success of product launches, campaigns, etc.
  • Develop market intelligence
    • Analyze trends both at market and individual customer level
    • Continuously collect business intelligence through sales force contact, customer visits, attending key congresses and meetings, joining earnings calls, reading analyst reports, and conducting primary and secondary market research
  • Strategic account management
    • Drive strategic account management initiatives as well as other organizational activities geared at improving account effectiveness
    • Provide strategic analysis related to account profiling and other business analytics
  • Reports
    • Connect financial data to marketing strategies and report to management on regular basis
    • Establish and generate appropriate executive and detailed reports: convert complex information into comprehensible reports, provide interpretation of results to sales and marketing
  • Business Development
    • Work with internal teams to develop detailed financial models to evaluate new business opportunities by sizing addressable markets, understanding competitor revenues and forecasting potential Abbott revenue
  • Other responsibilities
    • Manages to a quarterly and annual budget
    • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 
    • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
    • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Four year degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or equivalent; MBA preferred
  • 5-7 years progressively responsible experience in similar positions
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel (advanced skills preferred)
  • Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for financial modeling
  • Experience working with complex product portfolios in the medical device industry
  • Experience leveraging personal, primary and syndicated research to provide market insights
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
