Job Description: Warehouse Technician - Lead         


Department: Operations            

 

Summary:

 

The Warehouse Technician - Lead supports the management team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse. The Warehouse Technician - Lead will support the Warehouse Supervisor and warehouse operation by assisting and coordinating all assigned daily warehouse activities, not limited to: staging, kitting, picking, receiving, storing, inventory control, distributing of materials, parts, supplies, equipment, finished goods, as well as maintenance of the warehouse and other storage areas.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned.):

 

  • Responsible for coordinating warehouse operations, by improving performance, and the quality of services provided by the warehouse team
  • Perform a variety of tasks including kitting of parts for manufacturing, stock put away, consolidation of released material for transportation between facilities.
  • Lead warehouse employees by example by loading/unloading trucks and/or performing all other warehouse related activities as necessary
  • Assist the management team with employee training, and clearly communicating job expectations to warehouse employees
  • Fill material requests from all external departments in a timely manner.
  • Pull and process all scheduled material cart requests daily
  • Unpack, check goods received against purchase orders, invoices, return authorizations, or other related job completion documentation.
  • Assist receiving department by entering purchase order receipts into the computer system and route the material, and paperwork to the correct destinations within the organization. 
  • Maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees on warehouse floor throughout the shift.
  • Possess strong inventory control skills and lead daily cycle count activities. Assist in yearend physical inventory counts
  • Reviews, organizes and prioritizes, all outgoing orders to meet deadlines.
  • Performs administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Coordinating daily workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, while monitoring any issues, and ensuring daily warehouse targets are met
  • Foster a safe working culture
  • Label parts as needed during receiving, put away, picking/kitting process 
  • Utilize warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks and delivery carts.     
  • Break down boxes and remove pallets and/or packaging waste from stocking, receiving and picking/kitting activities.

  • Count, sort, and put materials in bins, boxes, or on pallets for storage
  • Accurately transact material requests and inventory transfers on the RF handheld devices and computer.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing to resolve discrepancies that arise during the receiving, or parts kitting process.
  • Consolidate partial pallets into full pallets for location/inventory consolidation
  • Monitor inventory levels of all warehouse supplies and work with purchasing to replenish these supplies.
  • Review emails for various parts and material requests and related instructions.
  • Ensure proper organization and cleanliness of all warehouse areas, including racking, aisles, and related floor storage areas.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with the manager or supervisor on any issues which need resolution.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years material handling related experience in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing, inventory control procedures and related systems required.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated medical device company desired.

  • SAP experience a plus.
  • High School Diploma, GED or High School Equivalence Certificate required.
  • Certified Forklift preferred.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license with the ability to operate a vehicle to support the operational needs of the department
  • Strong team-working and communication skills.  A drive to get the job done in the face of obstacles and time constraints.

 

 

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Ability to conduct self in a professional and articulate manner and maintain composure to work effectively during high stress situations to meet deadlines.
  • Assists warehouse manager and or supervisor, with development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA’s Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulatory requirements with which ALLERGAN complies.

  • Must be available to work overtime as requested by the management team. This may include nights, weekends, and holidays, or during times critical to our business needs.

  • Must have strong communication skills, manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure and strict time constraints
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities, with a proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines 
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communications. Must demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate clearly and professionally when presenting information both verbally and in writing when responding to questions. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels, and develop constructive and cooperative working relationships within the team, as well as cross-functionally within Allergan
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with his/her supervisor on all issues which need resolution.

 

Math Skills:

 

  • Ability to apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, perform calculations and interpret results/data.

 

 

Analytical and Reading Skills:

 

  • Ability to read, understand and abide by all company procedures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, written or oral instructions.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

The employee is regularly required to lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to bend, turn, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; manipulate keys on a keyboard for data entry on a daily basis and talk or hear up to 10 hours per day.

 

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, and withstand long periods of time on the warehouse floor, and tolerates elevated temperatures, including outdoors, dust, and noise levels occasionally.

Work Environment:

 

Most work is performed in a typical warehouse environment, which can get noisy. Environment includes, but is not limited to, power lift equipment, and additional warehouse equipment. Employee is required to operate a personal computer, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, calculator, telephone, etc. The noise level in the environment is usually low to moderate.
