JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible in assisting the daily coordination of all phases of Jimmy beverage program & food service. Assist clients, in support of Jimmy General Manager in program planning and menu selection when needed. Solicit local group food & beverage business. Maintain the services and reputation of Jimmy and act as a management representative to group clients and associates. Work under the guidance of the Jimmy General Manager to develop, implement, and monitor effective and compliant processes and procedures in alignment with company culture and philosophy.  Demonstrate leadership, creativity, integrity, and resourcefulness.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Staff Management:

  1. Liaise with Human Resources and Jimmy General Manager to ensure all human resources paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
  2. Assist Jimmy General Manager with interviewing, hiring, evaluating, conducting performance coaching & counseling and performance evaluations of direct reports.
  3. Develop, train and mentor direct reports, acting as a resource to them and identifying opportunities for growth, development and retention.
  4. Responsible for alerting the Jimmy General Manager of any action that may warrant discipline.
  5. Assist in the creation and distribution of labor schedules as needed, offering any recommendations to the Jimmy General Manager.
  6. Assist in the development and conducting of necessary training programs for direct reports.
  7. Promote and maintain positive working relationships and create a team environment with the Jimmy General Manager, associates and other James Hotel team members.
  8. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as they pertain to health, safety and labor inclusive of the DOH.

 

Financial:

  1. Ensure cost controls are being implemented as per the direction and guidance of the Jimmy General Manager.
  2. Assist in the completion of inventory ensuring accuracy and completion in a timely manner.

Administrative Support:

  1. Provide solid and timely communication to all associates and departments.
  2. Assist in monitoring and maintaining the beverage storeroom.
  3. Recommend and flag items to the Jimmy General Manager for purchasing.
  4. Maintain positive relationships with approved vendors.
  5. Attend a weekly meeting with the Jimmy General Manager to review staff concerns and highlights, operational needs, and building issues.

Service:

  1. Enforce of all “Standards of Service”.
  2. Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any appropriate action to turn a dissatisfied guest into return guests and escalating matters to the Jimmy General Manager as needed.
  3. Ensure mindfulness regarding any special requests and accommodations.
  4. Provide support for events when requested.
  5. Consistently follow all opening and closing building procedures, inclusive of the completion of checklists.
  6. Check in with staff at the start of their shift, ensuring attendance and understanding of all sidework.
  7. Ensure proper set up of the rooms inclusive of all equipment (TV, lighting and sound systems, etc.) prior to the start of service.
  8. Monitor the bar cleaning program, providing guidance as necessary.
  9. Print any menu changes as advised by the Jimmy General Manager and ensure the distribution of all current material.
  10. Follow up with all associates and guests throughout service, ensuring all pertinent information is subsequently shared with the Jimmy General Manager.
  11. Ensure all drink recipes are accurately prepared and portioned for consistency.

General:

  1. Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  2. Know and follow all The James Hotel emergency and safety procedures.
  3. Direct associates in completion of tasks as designated by assignment sheets and/or needs.

-        Must have the ability to read, speak and understand English, and to follow written directions and verbal instructions in English.

-        Ability to work productively and cooperatively in a high volume, fast past, highly pressured environment, and be able to lead and respond efficiently to unanticipated problems and crises.

     

 

Qualifications:

-        3 + years management experience in a quality restaurant/hotel operation or high-level bar.

-        Prior event experience preferred.

-        Degree in business field preferred.

-        Knowledge of New York State Health and Sanitation Guidelines.

-        Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively, independently, and efficiently with time constraints.

-        Must be creative, innovative, and proactive.

-        Must be detail oriented and perform work accurately and timely.

-        Proficient computer skills necessary including Microsoft Office.

-        Financial management cost controls, food and labor cost management experience required.

-        Ability to effectively, professionally, and respectfully communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and clients.

  4. Exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 12 hours per day and at least 60 hours per week.
  5. Frequently utilize the stairs, often while lifting and carrying heavy food containers. 
  6. Be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, burns, cuts, scrapes, and frequent exposure of hands to water.
