JOB OVERVIEW:
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Coordinator will work under the supervision and direction of the Therapeutic Preschool manager in providing a range of behavior intervention plans and behavior support programs for children/parents in the therapeutic preschool and pediatric program at Ability KC. Requirements include Missouri license as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, 3-5 years experience as a BCBA including BCBA services in the school system.
PRIMARY DUTIES & TASKS:
- Conduct functional behavioral and developmental assessments for children with autism spectrum disorders.
- Develop ABA treatment plans for children in the therapeutic preschool on the autism spectrum to improve social and developmental skills appropriate to the child’s needs as a participant in the therapeutic preschool and to support the child’s outcomes in the therapeutic preschool. Develop and oversee schedules for ABA programs and behavior support plans and RBT activities.
- In coordination with Therapeutic Preschool Manager and classroom teachers develop behavior support plans and programs for addressing aggressive/disruptive behaviors.
- Provide progress data and recommendations for IEPS of children in the therapeutic preschool as appropriate.
- Document progress in EMR of ABA services and progress.
- In coordination with Therapeutic Preschool Manager, develop parent education modules appropriate to the needs of parents with children in the therapeutic preschool and parents of children in the pediatric medical program of Ability KC.
- Provide monthly parent education and progress meetings for children receiving ABA intervention; participate in parent-teacher meetings as to progress on behavior and social goals in the classroom.
- In coordination with the Preschool social worker, provide resources for parents as to behavior supports and services in the community.
- Provide supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT’s) providing ABA and behavior support programs under the coordinator’s direct supervision and as is required by state licensing laws.
- Participate in providing ongoing training to RBTs on ABA service provision, and provide regular education to classroom teachers and staff as to behavior principles and strategies.
- Participate in hiring and evaluation of RBT staff along with Therapeutic Preschool Manager.
- Participate in hiring and evaluation of BCBA staff, along with Therapeutic Preschool Manager.
- Participate in cultivating and demonstrating Ability KC cultural initiatives in all environments of employment with Ability KC.
- Attend relevant meetings and perform duties otherwise assigned by Therapeutic Preschool Manager.
- Complete appropriate documentation related to obtaining authorization for ABA services and work with case management staff in ensuring documentation is completed in a timely manner.
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Education, Psychology or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years of ABA experience in classroom/school setting and 3-5 years of experience as a license BCBA, including a minimum of 3 years experience supervising RBT/Implementers.
- Experience in ABA assessment procedures, development of behavior plans and behavior support programs.
- Experience and knowledge of insurance authorization procedure to authorize ABA services, current ABA service billing and coding.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Missouri license Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Experience in ABA assessment, assessment data analysis and interpretation.
- Ability to train and supervise RBTs in behavior programs and ABA intervention services.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members and staff members.
- Excellent time-management and organization skills.
- Adherence to Missouri and BCBA professional and ethical standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, team members, other disciplines and parents.
- Basic computer skills.
