Reporting to Academy’s VP of FP&A, the FP&A Merchandising & Marketing Manager will serve as chief merchant & marketing finance lead and be responsible for partnering with business leaders on key merchandising & marketing planning metrics— providing a holistic insights to merchant leaders to help them better understand their business performance and opportunities.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent

Skills:

  • Ability to partner effectively with all lines of business internally and interface with clients and vendors
  • Strategic thinker who can also understand tactical delivery of analysis as needed
  • Track record of delivering high-impact results year-over-year
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Ability to formulate, initiate, administer policies and procedures for effective fiscal control
  • Can handle a high degree of complexity and translate to simplification
  • Hard-working and results-oriented
  • Analytical and process-improvement oriented
  • Thorough knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, credit policy practices, and industry data sources.
  • Ability to apply numerical and analytical skills to support ideas and portfolio performance
  • Ability and proven skill in developing and applying complex models to measure risk.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to establish strong relationships with, your team, peers and senior management.
  • Be a former credit analyst and have the skill and willingness to roll up your sleeves execute (not simply manage others); possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast paced team environment, deliver under considerable time pressure and ability to embrace constructive feedback.

Work Experiences:

  • At least eight (8) years of substantive FP&A experience, including financial statements reporting, consolidations, variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Previous experience in FP&A or Corporate Finance a plus
  • Previous managerial experience required                                                             

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for aligning operational activities to financial performance and help drive profitable sales
  • Lead, develop and execute annual financial planning process for merchants and marketing; including forecasting, merchandising sales planning, as well as margin and turnover data
  • Support the Finance Leadership in the development of annual profit plan targets for the business. Create and maintain the top-down financial quarterlies
  • Lead test and learn methodology for merchandising and marketing strategies
  • Lead merchandising KPI benchmarking
  • Track and support monthly Budget to actual/Open to Buy and forecast alignment
  • Coordinate landed margin process and help drive to systemically report landed margin
  • Develop, prepare and provide budgets, benchmarking, and KPI data for business leaders
  • Build appropriate pro forma models to support merchandising and marketing planning initiatives
  • Interact regularly with senior management teams to help them define and enable business strategies.
  • Monitor aged inventory data
  • Develop and leverage internal and external networks to maximize the achievement of business goals
  • Respond to specific requests by the merchandising and marketing teams for insights on key, priority topics
  • Responsible for providing financial support related to feasibility analysis, Open to Buy, ROI, business case development, margin implementation and ensuring soundness of process used to drive financial results from projects
  • Owner of MP&A financial profile
  • Ensure the delivery of weekly, monthly and quarterly executive reporting including but not limited to monthly performance reporting, corporate goals reporting and other ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Identify and drive process improvements within the merchandising  and marketing team
  • Actively drive new FP&A initiatives
  • Required to learn company policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Duties may change and team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned
