The Counseling Assistant is charged with assisting the school and counseling department with administrative
tasks.
Performance Responsibilities:
● Share a commitment to the success of the mission, goals, and objectives of the charter school.
● Support the school and counseling team by offering organizational and technical assistance that ensures compliance with all corporate, local, state and federal guidelines and procedures.
● Assist with all aspects of counseling services including concurrent enrollment, mental health counseling, schedule development and implementation.
● Collect information, prepare reports and correspondence as required.
● Sort and distribute mail.
● Copy and distribute materials as required.
● Adhere to the policies and procedures related to the maintenance of all office records and student files.
● Track documentation, as required.
● Work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate, timely manner.
● Share responsibility for professional, cooperative staff relations and for activities important to the operation of the school.
● Work effectively with parents and staff and generate parent’s confidence in the school and staff.
● Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, board members, parents, students, visitors, and community through a positive manner and professional image.
● Utilize Word, Excel, and Outlook programs in a proficient manner, learning and implementing new computer programs as needed.
● Use technology with efficiency for record keeping, administrative tasks, and communications.
● Demonstrate genuine concern for the students and the staff by maintaining high personal standards and strong work ethic.
● Be consistent and reliable in arrival and attendance as an essential function to assure the proper operation of the school.
● Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model.
● Accept responsibilities as delegated by administration and the counseling team.
● Conduct one-self according to professional, ethical principles. Continuously strive to improve office methods, clerical techniques, and interpersonal relationships.
● Display personal qualities and a professional image that reflect favorably upon the individual, the group and the school.
● Display pride in being a member of the Charter School team and Administrative Staff.
● Be familiar with and support school administration in the effective implementation of the school’s Emergency Response Plan.
● Adhere to all procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Manual
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
● Proficiency in MS Office
● Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
● Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
● Ability to use discretion in managing confidential information
● High quality written and verbal communication skills
● Experience in urban and/or school operations is a plus
Compensation: starting at $12.00/hr
