ACCEPT Education Collaborative is a regional non-profit educational organization with locations in Natick and Medway, MA. ACCEPT provides a wide range of programs and services including special education for students with moderate to severe needs, specialized transportation, home-based services, behavioral and educational consultation, and professional development. ACCEPT offers a continuum of programs and services Prek-12 and to age 22 for both students in life skills and Therapeutic programs. Our programs address autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral needs, global impairments, cognitive/intellectual disabilities, language disorders, ADHD/ADD, and nonverbal learning disability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director shall provide leadership, development, and coordination in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessments for all grades and create professional development opportunities both internal to the collaborative and external for school collaboratives. He/she will work synergistically with the Collaborative’s leaders, Directors, Assistant Directors and Coordinators to promote continuous learning for all students and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
● Master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university
● Demonstrated competencies in system-wide (preK - 12) curriculum, instruction and assessment
● Proven experience in developing and implementing professional development
● Experience in general education teaching and curriculum development
● Certification from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as Assistant Superintendent, Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director of Curriculum & Instruction Special Knowledge/Abilities Required for the Position:
● Thorough knowledge of state and federal curriculum and accountability standards/guidelines
● Knowledge of evidence-based practices for teaching students with special needs.
● Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented organization
● Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, parents, and community partners.
● Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to use technology for communication.
● Excellent problem solving skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple competing demands and delegate effectively.
● Successful teaching experience
● Understanding of curriculum organization and management, principles of learning and instructional pedagogy
● Understanding and experience with the use of instructional technology
● Collaborative leadership style
● Ability to function independently, take initiative, promote staff and student morale and exercise a high degree of professional judgment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a collaborative-wide leadership role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instructional technology, instruction, and professional development, in collaboration with the Administrative Council.
Provide leadership for the staff in the implementation of the philosophy and goals of the school system
Provide collaborative-wide leadership in communication among schools and between the school system and the community.
Provide leadership in the change initiative necessary to restructure local curriculum and assessment to align with the expectations of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Lead in the development of a correlated and integrated program of studies from kindergarten through grade twelve in all subjects
Establish procedures for a continuing evaluation of curriculum and instruction at all levels
Lead in the revision of existing curriculum and in the development of new curriculum
Review all proposals for course or program revision
Coordinate the publication of all curriculum guides, programs of study, and other published materials related to the program of instruction
Work with the staff in the continuing evaluation and improvement of instruction
Encourage the development, publication, and use of new instructional materials
Coordinate the selection of textbooks and other instructional materials
Lead in the development and coordination of enrichment opportunities for all students •Manage the home schooling application and approval process in collaboration with principals
Manage the system’s contractual and systemic professional development program, in coordination with professional development needs identified at individual school sites
Provide leadership for the Professional Development Council •Provide leadership for the Curriculum Advisory Board
Act as curriculum and instruction liaison to the Administrative Council
Manage all system-wide grants and is accountable for all aspects of our grant program
Coordinate and manage the system’s comprehensive assessment program
Collaborate with state and local agencies in matters relating to curriculum, technology and instruction
Work with the high school principal and Curriculum Advisors to continue the ongoing review, planning, and implementation of high school curriculum
Work with Technology group to develop, implement, and evaluate instructional technology plans for the collaborative, including the integration of technology and curriculum
Lead in establishing and maintaining systems of communication within the school system and the community
Develop and revise collaborative policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
