The Director of Government Affairs works to secure continued and expanded public sector funding, partnerships, and public policies that promote the wellbeing of ACCESS patients and communities, as well as the organization’s capacity to deliver high quality care. The position develops relationships between ACCESS and federal, state, and local elected officials, and agencies of government to interpret public policies and policy initiatives that affect ACCESS patient health and delivery of care.   What You Will Do – Top Priorities   Develop and manage strategies to pursue key relationships with elected and appointed government officials. Set goals and priorities for ACCESS government affairs initiatives aligned with those of the organization as a whole. Manage the strategic direction for the government affairs component of large initiatives such as Pin-A-Sister/Examinate Comadre that have the potential to affect community health on a national scale. Support board members, senior leaders and others who represent the organization to facilitate government relations. Interpret government relations goals and processes to colleagues and managers; and orient them to key success factors, approaches, methods, and learnings regarding ACCESS relationships with elected and appointed officials. Work closely with Communications and Community Engagement and other key external affairs leaders, to align with and support their goals, priorities, outreach activities, communications, and messaging. Develop an agenda for area growth as needed, regarding staffing and consultant contracts. Negotiate and manage consultant relationships, setting and assuring performance standards are met.
