Housing Director

Location: Middletown, NY (occasional travel)

Summary of Professional Functions: 

Housing Director administers day to day operation of housing and behavioral health services within Orange, Duchess and Sullivan Counties. Partners and assists in development and implementation of the corporate strategic plan and budget and ensured quality service delivery for nearly 11,000 people annually. Provides supervision, guidance and training to the staff of up to 100, directly supervises ESSHI Clinical Director and Public Health Nurse and oversees a daily management of $6 million dollar budget. Provides leadership that instills our belief and values in mental health recovery and hope to individuals diagnosed with mental illness to have full lives and maintain safe housing. Leads staff recruitment, selection, hiring, retention and professional development of ESSHI staff at all level.  



·                     Teaches role models and inspires excellence in customer service engagement and satisfaction. 

·                     Inspires and leads staff to pursue expert training in evidence-based practice for adults with mental illness and those in dual recovery. 


·                     Ensures that individuals are provided an array of quality services that result in positive outcomes. 

·                     Collaborates with Local Government Units and service providers within each community. 

·                     Collaborates with the other formal leaders within the agency. 

·                     Partners with the other senior, middle and executive leaders to ensure integrated, quality service delivery to service recipients, facilitating inter-departmental response and coordinated services well designed to meet each recipient’s needs.  

·                     Assists in planning and securing service expansion opportunities to meet the evolving needs of the community (i.e., MCO’s, Health Homes and DSRIPs), while supporting the operations of the organization. Develops proposals, budgets and implementation plans for new service delivery. 

·                     Provides input into the development of the Corporate Strategic Plan, ensures implementation of specific objectives, and provides outcome data to achieve Corporate Key Performance Indicators.   


Education Required: 


·                     LCSW/LMSW/LMCH with more than a decade of experience in behavioral health and at least 6 years of experience in a leadership role.

·                     Extensive experience leading trauma and culturally competent care for the underserved population, including work with victims of domestic violence and those experiencing behavioral health crises.
