The Controller is responsible for providing the day-to-day management and leadership of all financial accounting-related activities. Ensure adherence to Hubbell Accounting Policies, Practices, and Controls and will be proactive in supporting and ensuring profitability and success of the SGS business and delivering timely and accurate financial information to appropriate internal and external customers.  This position will operate across dimensions to support both short- and long-term business objectives and will be responsible for all of the company’s financial accounting and financial reporting functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory guidelines and internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare presentation materials and analysis as needed by the operational and corporate management, including statements and projections relating to profitability, feasibility, and financial statement impact.
  • Provide support for Hubbell presentations and analysis of the business.
  • Work with operations management to explain financial performance, trends, and recent developments to the executive team.
  • Support the financial reporting aspects of the company including annual audit support, budgeting, and month-end reporting for the business.
  • Enhance and/or developing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures of the organization that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the business.
  • Support the executive team of the company in driving best practices across the company in corporate governance, ethical standards and sustainable business practices.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening staff with commitment to recruiting, mentoring, and training a diverse team.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Successfully interface and team with the Controllership, Financial Planning and Analysis and Tax resources to complete financial reporting requirements
  • Provide financial guidance on technical accounting and financial reporting issues specific to the Meters business.
  • Translate complex financial concepts and data to individuals at all levels (finance and non-financial)

Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Minimum of 4 years of Accounting and/or Controller experience; previously held controllership or senior financial role.
  • Demonstrated record of success in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Outstanding track record and reputation for financial acumen, strategic thinking, business judgment, and analytical ability.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.

Preferred:

  • Financial controls (Sarbanes-Oxley) experience
  • CPA
  • Strong preference for an advanced degree in business or accounting
  • Operational experience desirable.  
  • Process driven finance/accounting background.

Physical Demands:

  • Up to 25% travel required.
