Aclara is currently seeking a Field Operations Assistant to assist the Field Operations Manager with planning, organizing and directing the installation of smart meters and associated repair and maintenance activities in the city of New York.
Essential Functions:
• Assist in managing activities related to project scope, project safety, project schedule, quality, coordination, and client requirements.
• Able to drive project teams professionally and responsibly.
• Work with building/facility management in planning and organizing installation activity.
• Provide on-site supervision and coordinate repairs and re-wiring of electrical sockets with external contractors.
• Provide technical advice to team members and spot-check completed work for quality.
• Assure work is conducted in accordance with approved building procedures and codes.
• Understand project contract’s terms and conditions.
• Other operational support and administrative tasks assigned by Manager.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 4 years of diversified experience in the electrical trade in which 2 of those years have been at a supervisory level.
• Experience in electrical distribution systems, switchboards, panelboards, service entrance and Metering sections including different meter forms, CT meters and socket conversions with repair and maintenance knowledge.
• A comprehensive and thorough knowledge of trade tools and of occupational hazards, safety precautions, local codes and regulations pertaining to the trade is essential.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Capable of functioning well under stress and during emergencies, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to organize and manage multiple project teams simultaneously.
• Ability to prioritize competing project requirements, have strong problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented.
• A Motor Vehicle Driver’s License valid in the state of New York.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office.
• Proven work record of safe work practices and efficient time management skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to think critically and work independently with little supervision.
Preferred:
• Associate's degree or 2-year Technical trade school degree/certification.
• Bachelor’s degree.
Physical Demands:
• Work variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
• May require the following activities: sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, stooping, reaching, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
• Must be able to lift/carry, push/pull up to 50 lbs over a distance of 20 feet, and work from heights and in areas where climbing a ladder is required.
