What does a Associate Director, Center of Excellence do at companies like ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION?

The Associate Director, Center of Excellence, assists the Principal Investigator on the work of the Association’s Cooperative Agreement with the CDC on the BOLD Public Health Center of Excellence on Dementia Risk Reduction and is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the activities under the grant.

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Principal Investigator and the project’s external scientific/academic partner in translating the scientific evidence on risk reduction to actionable public health activities and interventions.
  • Write tool kits, reports, and other materials necessary to assist state, local, and tribal public health agencies address risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia.
  • Work with the State Affairs Department and chapters in disseminating the Center’s materials to, and encouraging use by, public health agencies.
  • Organize meetings and other activities of the Center, including activities to build capacity among public health agencies in undertaking actions on dementia risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with other divisions of the Association, particularly the Marketing and Communications Division, when appropriate.
  • Work with the Principal Investigator and the project’s external evaluator in measuring progress and collecting feedback from the field.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field required; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive, professional experience in the public health field
  • Multiple years of experience advancing health equity
  • Experience leading public health program delivery from implementation through dissemination and evaluation
  • Experience working with or within a state or local health department a plus
  • Experience building and cultivating partnerships
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience managing teams representing different organizations and perspectives to achieve a common goal

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of public health practice, including evaluation.
  • Ability to translate concepts into pragmatic actions and deliver capacity-building support to external audiences.
  • Proficiency in using multiple communications platforms to advance organizational priorities.
  • Superior written and oral communications skills, including representing an organization with confidence and polish and applying marketing principles.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of effective project management, including in periods of high-work volumes and tight deadlines.
  • Team-player with demonstrated ability in customer service and interpersonal relations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with applying health equity frameworks in public health practice.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%

Position Location: Remote, US

Full time based on 37.5 hours week minimum

Position Grade: 508 Exempt ($70,000 - $84,000 estimated annual salary)

Reports To: Senior Director, Public Health
