What does a Revenue Manager do at companies like APTTUS?

Revenue Manager or Senior Manager (dep on experience)  

We are seeking an experienced revenue professional that will be a part of the Apttus revenue team.  A high-energy, hands-on individual that can work independently and as a team player.  We are a growing company, looking for individuals to drive best practices, efficiency, and have a desire to learn and grow with us.

Reporting to the Director of Revenue, this person will work daily on requests that come into the team related to current transactions for software and services, as well as analyzing and reviewing closed transactions, support month end and quarter end close, prepare reporting, and work directly with our external auditors.  This role will leverage the Apttus CPQ and CLM systems in combination of NetSuite.  This role will be responsible for understanding and establishing processes and controls for SaaS contracts in compliance with US GAAP specifically ASC 606.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

 

  • Ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with the company’s policy and SaaS revenue recognition accounting standard ASC 606
  • Interact with Legal, Sales Ops, FPA, Sales, Pricing and Product Groups on projects, deal structuring, deal approvals, go to Market strategies, contract negotiations
  • Manage and mentor a team of revenue analysts 
  • Address technical accounting inquiries from the business and provide guidance/implications
  • Identify and implement internal controls and process improvements
  • Provide contract review summaries for completed transactions (for internal and audit purposes) 
  • Actively participate in new system initiatives, including Apttus CPQ and CLM implementations and new revenue recognition modules in NetSuite
  • Assist with financial audits including reconciliations, support documentation, and communication with external auditors 
  • Manage and develop controls over our SaaS related revenue
  • Managing and improving the SSP methodology and testing 
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities
  • Provide training to other functional areas
  • Collaborate with the FP&A group on revenue forecasting
  • Miscellaneous projects as necessary 

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and/or finance          
  • 5-10 years of experience in Finance and Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606
  • Big 4 and industry experience
  • CPA is preferred
  • NetSuite experience is required
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail is critical in this role
  • Has the ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of financial data
  • Must have demonstrated presentation skills and able to easily present financial data in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • SaaS industry experience is strongly preferred.
