Position Summary: 

This position will supervise Teller and Customer service staff in their branch.  Generally, the Assistant Branch Manager will manage a larger staff and/or manage the majority of functions at the branch with the absence of other management.  This position will coordinate branch operations, and will support the loan function by taking retail loan applications and closing loans. This person should have knowledge of bank products and services and actively promote and sell those products and services.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory duties for all branches tellers and customer service representatives including performance  reviews, employee conflicts, and disciplinary actions when needed
  • Involved in the hiring process,  in partnership with human resources and your management team
  • Conduct department training and reviews policies and procedures with staff
  • Conduct surprise audits of all teller drawers, cash dispensers and the vault
  •  Attend Train- the- Trainer meetings and train your staff and/or other branch employees as applicable
  •  Ensure proper teller operations audit procedures are being followed in all areas relating to the retail operations
  •  Ensure that you and your staff are following proper procedures and policies to include regulatory requirements, cash drawer limits, balancing
  • Ensure that you and  your staff are giving exceptional customer service
  • Create and manage the schedules of the Teller and Customer service staff, ensuring that the branch has proper staff coverage
  • Back up to all teller and customer service operations to include waiting on customers, processing night depository, telephone transactions, stop payments, wire transfers, imaging, NSF decisions, ordering foreign currency, loading gift cards, etc
  • Manage the branch vault to include verifying sold cash, selling cash to staff, and preparing the armored services cash
  • Balance and maintain the ATM machine on a daily basis
  • Manage the maintenance of the teller equipment
  • Participates in maintaining good customer relations by acquainting customers and non-customers with bank products and services ; cross selling
  • Opens new accounts and performs all other customer service duties following all regulations for new accounts
  • Responsible for daily overdrafts and monitoring DDA accounts overall for branch; Close accounts as needed
  • Monitors and files various reports such as Safe Deposit Box, IRA and HSA weekly reports
  • Act as a Notary when needed
  • PDA processor for overdraft/return items/uncollected funds (review yearly)
  • Assist customers with their Safe Deposit boxes; understand the rules that apply to safe deposit boxes
  • Discuss loan applications with potential customers, distribute loan applications, inform applicants of other documents needed to complete the customer requirements of the loan file, verify data on loan applications and research credit history
  • Explain lending rules, rates, and customer responsibilities during the loan approval interview (can only negotiate terms and rates for mortgages if you have a NMLS)
  • Review loan applications and give recommendations to approving officers; explain rationale to customers when loans are not approved
  • Close loans  
  • Keep abreast of all lending forms, policies and requirements and ensure their use for all loan activities
  • Provide back up to the mortgage originators if needed
  • Schedule appointments for the Retail Bankers if needed
  • Monitor status of loan payments
  • Contact customers to discuss alternative payback measures with customers who satisfy bank policy and customer needs
  • Other administrative duties such as managing the mail for the office, managing supplies, organizing quarterly office meetings
  • Ensure that your staff is familiar with security processes and policies; you are the contact person for alarm problems or questions for your offices. 
  • Maintain security records and ensure that inspections are completed
  • Responsible for complying with our Code of Ethics
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • A minimum of 12 months banking experience; bank customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with loan applications preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle self professionally and work with a diverse customer base
