AREA MANAGER, MAINTENANCE
Principal Purpose of Position:
The Maintenance Area Manager will be a self-starter with a desire to make continuous improvements to all maintenance tasks and other maintenance activities.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the activities of skilled craftsmen
- Scheduling the day to day maintenance, repair, or replacement of plant equipment to ensure manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
- Establish, maintain, and improve the maintenance planning and scheduling flow process.
- Accountable for day-to-day detailed maintenance planning, repair/replacement of plant equipment, scheduling, cost estimating to maximize mechanical and electrical availability, while achieving budget targets in a safe, cost effective, and timely manner.
- Provide planning support for projects and major maintenance events through planning techniques to effectively control maintenance activities and craft utilization.
- Create and support a culture of Continuous Improvement;
- Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance personnel in the assigned area of responsibility, plan and execute Safety, 6S, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance.
Key Priorities of the position:
- Provide leadership in the development of team members.
- High energy, passion and motivation, to work with maintenance teams to identify innovative improvement suggestions.
- Lead safety as a core value in the Maintenance Department ensuring the prevention of safety incidents while maintaining business results.
- Develop and Recommend improvement to equipment and machinery reliability measuring machine uptime as a key metric.
- Build organizational capability in the application of lean tools specifically 6S, Process Management, TPMs, standardized work and rapid cycle improvements.
- Establish and maintain effective communications with site management, peers and external stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects in a timely manner while insuring safety, cost effectiveness and proper resource allocation
- Responsible for spare parts management- including identification of required spare parts, procurement and inventory management
- Manage vendors and contractors
- Work with site EHS personnel to ensure the equipment and machinery meet all state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Develop direct reports and build technical skills appropriate to the functional responsibilities.
- Supports the maintenance leadership in the development and implementation of planned shutdown and other continuous improvement projects.
- Upholds programs and procedures required to ensure plant housekeeping.
- Ability to personally observe safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently.
- Ability to assist in the development of realistic action plans to meet ever-changing demands or priorities.
- Collaborates with maintenance leadership and operations supervision to schedule day-to-day manpower and resources for the most effective production and maintenance outcomes.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and/or Training:
- BS-ME or BS Degree in a technical discipline preferred; minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a maintenance engineer, maintenance support specialist, or maintenance skilled craftsperson in a heavy equipment manufacturing facility required.
- Maintenance planning, scheduling, and supervisory experience preferred.
- Six Sigma and Lean Training a plus.
- Extensive experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred
