The Role

The Database Administrator maintains, develops and secures the organization’s databases. The role is also responsible for monitoring and performance-tuning nightly ETL jobs and stored procedures.

In This Role You Will...

• Day to day database administration using SQL Server
• Monitor database efficiency, being proactive to work with various areas of IT to correct the issue
• Monitor nightly ETL jobs and stored procedures, serving on a rotation for 24x7 support
• Backups and Recovery
• Troubleshooting/diagnostic analysis as needed
• Performance Tuning
• Adhere to change management procedures established by the organization
• Write and optimize queries in T-SQL, assist with code/scripting as needed
• Evaluate and monitor database security configuration & needs, adhering to standards/policies set forth by the organization
• Review requirements specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback

In This Role You Must Be Able To…

• SSIS, SQL Server Integration Services and legacy DTS Package development
• SSRS, SQL Server Reporting Services, including server configuration and deployment
• Understanding of OS configuration including RAID configuration to optimize SQL Server performance
• DevOps - Experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as RedGate SQL Change Automation
• SQL Server 2012 or newer (plus)
• SQL Server Clustering
• Data Warehousing (plus)
• SSAS, SQL Server Analysis Services (plus)
• Experience with Postgres and/or No SQL databases
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Process Improvement skills – eager to learn the “why” behind processes, always looking to find ways to improve them from a technical standpoint  
• Strong analytical skills – ability to analyze data and information systems to isolate and solve technical problems independently
• Planning and Organizing – ability to work effectively without supervision

Education and Experience

• BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of database administration, or 10+ years equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification or interest in obtaining certification (huge plus)
