What does an Absence Product Principal do at companies like Cigna Corp?

Join Cigna's dynamic Product team. This position is responsible for supporting the development, execution and project management of products, services and capabilities for Cigna's Leave of Absence (both paid and unpaid leave) Products – for all size segments including Select, Regional and National. Our market segmentation allows us to strategically focus on the specific and unique needs of these employers, bringing products and capabilities to market to drive continued growth.  This individual will act at the lead for what will be the fastest growing product in 2021.  Ultimately it is anticipated that this individual will take over leadership of several individuals on the team. 

This position will play a key role on our talented product team.  Our goal is the effective management of Cigna's products in the market, the building of new capabilities and continuous improvement of existing capabilities and drives innovation for CIGNA's Disability, Leave and Life Business.  This includes the execution of market testing, Go to Market plans and overall messaging and product placement. We are seeking several experts in the Leave of Absence arena specifically in Voluntary Plan Administration in Statutory Disability States to manage newly created paid family and medical leave products. 

This position will support our entire Absence/Leave product portfolio. Direct responsibilities include:

  • Manage a portfolio of capability enhancements ensuring that value is articulated and milestones and deliverables are met

    • Is the expert and face to the market in Cigna's capabilities and solution in this space.

    • Prioritizes needs based on market value and competing initiatives.  Owns overall responsibility for over 20 different projects

    • Drives in the design of end-to-end solutions based on market needs and provides design specifications to product development for refinement and construction

    • Drives in the Development and delivery of business cases to support recommended Absence product strategies.

    • Working with Marketing, builds Absence product specific sales and marketing training and collateral.

    • Assesses key market factors, including competitive landscape and consumer insights, and unmet customer needs to deliver specifications to Product Development to develop innovative products, services and programs to meet the unique needs to target select segment buyers.

    • Ensures strategy complements or leverages other key initiatives for Group Products in general.  Partners closely with Disability Product lead and Statutory PFML Product Lead to create connected and congruent products

    • Ensure Sales partners are trained, supported, and able to deliver the value proposition of each new product/enhancement and capability to maximize sales.

  • Design, develop, deploy and maintain our strategy, materials, go to market content and overarching solution for our Absence Portfolio.  This will involve coordination and management of internal and external resources. 
  • Collaboratively work with matrix partners for process and technology enhancements to demonstrate differentiation and value. 

    Ideal candidates will offer:

  • At least 8 years of Specialty/Disability experience
  • At least 10 of the above years in the FML, Leave of Absence, Paid Leave space.  We also desire someone with a background in Voluntary Plan Administration
  • Proven ability to influence cross functional teams to achieve results in a dynamic, rapidly changing market.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with demonstrated success achieving results through others.
  • Entrepreneurial - comfortable under pressure and able to bring focus to ideas that may appear unclear or ambiguous in concept.
  • Knowledge of financial components of product/general management (ROI, budgeting, etc)
  • Well developed and proven analytical skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into action.
