The Municipal Court Supervisor is responsible for oversite of all court room functions, processing and preparing required documents and reports, preparation and disbursement of the Court budget, maintaining municipal court files and supervision of municipal court staff.• Oversees and reviews preparation and processing of all court-related documents and reports
• Oversees support duties for court sessions including coordinating court appointed attorneys, scheduling arraignment appearances, providing discovery materials to attorney's, coordinating language interpreters, preparing trial files, requesting and securing evidence and issuing subpoenas, monitoring activity in the courtroom and enters court orders during court sessions and creates appropriate paperwork
• Plans and schedules the court calendar for regular sessions and jury trials
• Manages the collection and processing of bond monies; prepares bail bond and restitution refunds; maintains records for the Municipal Court
• Schedules and prepares all documents related to jury trials; maintains list of eligible jurors, prepares juror summons, prepares jury instructions in addition to duties related to trial
• Prepares information for appeals and delivers the files to the District Court
• Ensures compliance with all directives pertaining to the Municipal Courts including preparing reports and disposition of cases
• Prepares division budget, submits budget recommendations, monitors expenditures and maintains records
• Maintains all court contracts in accordance with the procurement policy
• Coordinates collection referral program in cooperation with private collection agency
• Analyzes operational procedures; recommends and implements changes in policies and procedures; evaluates trends in court management and establishes objectives to meet desired outcomes of the organization
• Develops and distributes various statistical reports, special information requests, researches official documents, prepares and provides for surveys and CORA requests
• Review and report the daily jail population report
• Researches and updates records of state statutes and city ordinances, actively monitors pending legislation, prepares for changes that will effect municipal court.
• Attends a variety of meetings within the organization as well as outside agencies concerning matters relevant to the municipal court
• Oversees security of the municipal court and coordinates the transport of prisoners
• Certifies and seals court documents
• Screens complaints and identifies sensitive issues.
• Evaluates, selects, implements and manages specialized Court software
• Monitors and maintains separation of duties between the Municipal Court and City officials
• Provides accurate information to customers upon request in person, by phone or mail

High school diploma or GED, at least of five years of related experience in a Municipal Court with two years supervisory/lead experience required; college-level coursework in Criminal Justice or Court Administration preferred. Must possess certification in Court Basics I, II, and III; certification in Court Management preferred or must be obtained within one year of employment. Must be able to maintain security clearance to CBI/CCIC databases. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

• Ability to effectively interact and communicate with diverse individuals on behalf of the Municipal Court
• Strong skill in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, organizations, and government entities.
• Extensive knowledge of the court procedures, laws, regulations and orders pertaining to Municipal Court
• Strong knowledge of NCIC/CCIC and CJIS requirements
• Strong knowledge of the proper procedures for issuance of summons, subpoenas, and arrest warrants,
• Strong knowledge of the administrative practices and procedures of the Court system
• Strong knowledge of the legal terminology used within the division
• Good organizational, technical, management, and human relations skills
• Ability to assemble and analyze information and prepare reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner
• Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions to meet organizational objectives
• Ability to research and identify changes in laws that effect the rules, regulations and operation of the Municipal Court• Driving: May need, or have ability, to drive a city or personal vehicle in the normal course of business
• Office Equipment: Daily use of computer, keyboard, copier, scanner, printer, calculator, phone. Daily use of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, specialized court management & financial software, video conferencing equipment and audio/video equipment used during court

• Physical Activities: Sits for long periods of time; light physical activity that may include walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying
• Lifting: Frequently lifts, carries, and exerts up to 25 pounds
• Vision and Hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents. Must be able to answer telephones, communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquires
• Exposure to Environmental Conditions: Position generally works in an office setting with overhead lighting and long periods of screen time
• Schedule: Position generally scheduled Monday - Friday; occasionally weekend work
