Under direction, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of administrative support functions for various functions of the city's Public Works Department. Employees in this class process multiple administrative support and secretarial tasks of a routine to moderately complex nature. Performs related work as required.
Prepares various documentation including, but not limited to, resolutions, agendas, reports, memorandum, purchase requisitions, written correspondence, newspaper advertisements, and position announcements.
Researches and compiles various Board and Commission packets; delivers such for distribution.
Posts notices of public hearings and notices of bid openings, including all pertinent data.
Attends meetings for the purpose of taking minutes; makes copies of minutes for distribution to Council and other Boards and Commissions.
Responds to inquiries concerning departmental activities from the public, visitors, and other entities via telephone, in person, and in writing.
Performs a variety of support tasks for the building and planning and zoning functions, i.e., locating and copying plats, updating demographics and city maps, compiling and updating legal descriptions and related records, writing building inspection requests.
Notarizes documents for department personnel and citizens.
Maintains department calendar, to include planning, scheduling and coordinating appointments, and arranging airline and hotel reservations.
Completes purchase requisitions, orders office supplies, and may pick up supplies as needed; transports Certified mail to the post office.
Contacts solid waste company concerning complaints received; performs follow up to ensure resolution.
Performs records management duties, i.e., filing of documentation, contracts, and related duties.
Trains part-time personnel in code enforcement and administrative support duties.
Researches special topics as directed.

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in performing administrative support work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Incumbent required to serve as a Notary Public.
