This position supports all accounting operations and activities by managing fixed assets tracking, managing annual fixed asset observations, preparing statutory reports and other filings, assisting with and completing audit schedules, completing special projects, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling bank accounts, transmitting information on-line to banking institutions, assisting with annual departmental materials and supplies inventory, preparing spreadsheets and researching as requested.
Reconcile operating and other checking accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies and prepare related journal entries; track daily outstanding check totals and coordinate account signature authority updates.
Manage capitalization of fixed assets and calculate depreciation by reviewing capital outlay general ledger accounts and projects for capital expenditures, coordinating with departments for appropriate documentation, updating the fixed asset system, tagging assets and performing physical verifications.
Assist with annual audit and ACFR preparation by preparing cash and fixed asset work papers, preparing fixed assets schedules and footnotes and updating the statistical portion of the ACFR by updating included information and compiling received information.
Coordinate online banking by monitoring daily activity, transmitting weekly check run to the bank, investigating positive pay exceptions, checking for ACH returns, managing vendor ACH draft authorizations and initiating wire transfers.
Coordinate statutory reports and other filings by preparing and sending letters to stale dated check recipients and submitting NC Escheat reports.
Education: 4-year degree in Accounting, Business Management or closely related field.
Experience: Minimum One (1) year of accounting experience.
Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License, must be bondable.
