Description
The Men’s LaCrosse Head Coach will be responsible for oversight of the Men’s LaCrosse program at Cleary University. This position will report to the Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game, and the ability to coach and motivate players and staff. Establish rules for the team and oversee the supervision, instruction and development of student athletes and the team; make strategic decisions in contest situations; oversee the strength and conditioning of the student athletes; coordinate player evaluation and selection in conjunction with the assistant coach(es).
- Recruit, onboard, supervise, develop, and evaluate coaching staff to ensure their professional growth and development; assist with goal setting, prioritization, personnel matters, professional development, appraisals, operational functions and the delegation of responsibilities.
- Manage and administer program resources including, budget and supplies in respect to recruitment, team travel, hospitality, and equipment acquisition.
- Develop and implement an annual recruiting plan, associated strategy and maintain a database of prospective student-athletes in coordination with the office of enrollment management.
- Monitor the eligibility status of team members in cooperation with Athletics Compliance Coordinator and the academic officials of the University to ensure compliance with University, department, NAIA, and conference policies and regulations.
- Develop, cultivate, and participate in promotions, publicity, alumni, development, and media and events for the program, department and university.
- Develop and implement communications strategies that will assure the success of the program, i.e., clean and professionally drafted recruiting letters, professional home visit presentations, well-organized campus visit itineraries, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by athletic administration.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution
- A minimum of 3-5 years of coaching experience with evidence of increasing levels of responsibilities.
- Established record of accomplishment in effective coaching, promoting student athlete development, budgetary management, and supervision of professional staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills including verbal and written.
- PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, background check and drug test.

- Understand the importance of working in close partnership with students, faculty, staff, parents, administration, alumni, community partners, and prospective students.
- Have a personal style that is professional, personable, approachable, and politically astute.
- Ability to attract, recruit, retain, inspire and motivate highly qualified student-athletes
- Possess a deep understanding of a diverse student body and a demonstrated commitment to an inclusive environment that promotes and values diversity and cross-cultural experiences of its members.
- Administratively self-sufficient and be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications.
- Basic knowledge of video filming, editing and analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
- Collegiate coaching experience
- Prior experience as a student athlete at the collegiate level
