What does an Assistant Banquet Manager do at companies like DESERT MOUNTAIN CLUB?

Desert Mountain Club, one of the top 20 and largest private country clubs in North America, is looking for an Assistant Banquet Manager to join the Food & Beverage Team!

In this role, under the direction of the Clubhouse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the banquet operation while ensuring a positive, energized culture for our employees to thrive and a high performing culture where all food and beverage service becomes a memorable experience for our membership and guests.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader with great energy, a can-do attitude, and excellent communication and organization skills. At least three (3) years of banquet experience and one (1) year of banquet leadership experience is required. Prior high-end resort, hotel, or club experience is highly preferred.

JOB DETAILS

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and embrace a positive, professional and energized culture for the employees that is focused on creating special and memorable experiences for members and guests.
  • Supervise, train and ensure the performance of assigned Banquet Staff.
  • Prepare and implement training programs for incoming employees, daily coaching, and develop follow-up training to create raving fan experiences for our members and guests.
  • Ensure proper staffing through established staffing guidelines for each and every event.
  • Lead and motivate the service staff to ensure a flawless event with smooth and timely service, high-quality delivery and presentation of food and beverage, and excellent coordination and communication with the other departments.
  • Provide updates to the culinary team in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all procedures are completed to the Clubs standards.
  • Perform and supervise set-up and breakdown of all food and beverage club activities, member parties, and offsite caterings.
  • Use set-up sheet, post floor plan, and conduct pre-service meetings.
  • Assist in the coordination of all member social events including scheduling of entertainment, booking of bands for dinner and dance events, etc.
  • Act as the point of contact for member activity groups to coordinate the scheduling of space and food and beverage needs for social activities.
  • Directly responsible for membership satisfaction. Maintain contact with and pace a high priority on visibility, positive member engagement and name recognition.
  • Work closely with Accounting to ensure account numbers are set up and billing is handled correctly.
  • Work closely and ensure excellent communication with the other departments – clubhouse teams, hospitality, engineering, culinary, catering, etc.
  • Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to members and their guests.
  • Assist in scheduling and running weekly/daily meetings as a tool of communication to staff.
  • Order and track orders for social and private events (i.e., equipment, flowers, rentals, wine, beverages, etc.).
  • Optimize full usage of CaterEase throughout the Club.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with the Clubhouse Manager to ensure a coordinated effort aimed at providing a year round quality experience for the club members and their guests.
  • Assist with the continuous development of DMC F&B training and procedures manual.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings.
  • Monitor and enforce employee dress codes according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure DMC Standards and Policies, Mission, and Core Values are being upheld.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
