DUTCHESS DAY SCHOOL Music and Choral Director/ Teacher Salary in the United States

Dutchess Day School seeks a full-time general/choral music teacher for grades 3-8, beginning in September 2020. The school’s music program includes choral, instrumental, general music, and musical theater components for class plays. Twice weekly, general music classes provide the foundation, experience, understanding, and skill for all other musical pursuits.

• Teach two general music classes each week for each grade level.
• Serve as Music Director for the annual 6th & 8th-grade musical theater productions
• Provide and supervise opportunities for students to demonstrate individually or in ensembles the skills and talents developed in the music program.
• Possess a familiarity with the NAfME Standards, and the National Core Music Education Standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in music education required a master’s degree in music education preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with principles of Kodaly, Orff and /or Dalcroze Eurhythmics. (Certification in one or more preferred).
• Piano proficiency, knowledge of recorder, basic guitar. Additional instrument proficiency is helpful.
• Ability to manage and direct large groups of students.
• Knowledge of choral literature for elementary and middle school voicings.
• Proficiency arranging instrumental music for varying ability levels and varied instrumentation for a small instrumental ensemble.
