Job Description


This position is responsible for assisting customers with service issues, providing re-write quotes, processing new applications, changes and cancellations for health insurance plans and related products, and changes and cancellations for brokered business. This position will support the Medicare and Life Producers, and the Director with various duties as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Process applications for new business.
  2. Provide re-write business quotes according to applicable state insurance rules and regulations.
  3. Update computer system with changes to existing records including but not limited to adding new dependents, address changes, and update corresponding billing,
  4. Note cancellation of coverage due to age, change in family status, divorce, etc.
  5. Notify agency customers of senior plan eligibility prior to 65th birthday.
  6. Present plan information to potential customers.
  7. Participate in special projects as assigned.
  8. Handle customer inquiries concerning claims, benefits, and/or eligibility.
  9. Keep all technology systems up to date with proper documentation.

PERSONAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient and timely completion of marketing communications and projects.
  2. Keeps informed regarding industry information and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
  3. Participates in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
  4. Maintains a cordial and effective relationship with customers, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts.
  5. Interacts with others effectively by utilizing effective communication skills; cooperates positively and provides information and guidance, as needed to contribute to the business efforts of the agency.

Requirements


  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 1 - 3 years’ experience in related field preferred.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience in medical insurance industry (Underwriting or Customer Service preferred) preferred.
  4. Pennsylvania and New York State Life, Health and Accident Licenses, or willing to obtain.
  5. Certain certifications will be required during course of employment.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  9. Ability to perform 70% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and exert negligible force frequently or constantly to move objects, including the body. May be asked to exert up to 20 pounds of force periodically, as needed.
  10. Field of vision must be adequate to observe up and down or right to left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  11. Ability to process written and other materials visually. 
  12. Physical efforts required include fingering, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, verbally communicating detailed and important information to others quickly and accurately, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects less than ten pounds frequently, and climbing occasionally.
  13. Requires ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40-dB loss at 500 Hz, and 2000 Hz without correction.
