Granular is looking for a Content Strategist to drive its content and storytelling efforts to take the Granular brand to the next level. This is a highly collaborative role in which you will work with our Communications, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Data Science teams. 

We’re looking for a Content Strategist for Granular that thinks like a marketer and acts like a journalist. Our team has a penchant for identifying topics and stories that appeal to our audience farmers (and those across the ag industry) and then creating, distributing, and measuring content that attracts attention and helps establish Granular as a trusted source of information, inspiration, and the leading farm management software for the professional farmer.

The ideal candidate is a versatile Strategist with the ability to combine strategy, planning, content creation and everything beyond. They should have a true knack for digesting research and using those findings to make work that feels intuitive, straightforward and effective.

The Granular Content Strategist will help drive overall growth, acquisition, activation, retention, and engagement of our current and potential customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and execute content roadmap and strategy, taking inputs from the business and aligning with key stakeholders to grow thought leadership and drive engagement throughout the funnel
  • Own content experience, including online and offline assets and how they work together to bring our story to life
  • Connect with and continue to help build out external network of content contribution partners and thought leaders
  • Direct overall efforts to measure content performance, establishing a regular reporting cadence with eye towards experimentation and continual optimization
  • Continually brainstorm and collaborate with relevant teams for new ideas and strategies
  • Manage and maintain content inventories in collaboration with the marketing team including, white papers, ebooks, guides, infographics, customer stories, newsletters, etc.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in product marketing and data science to brainstorm, develop and distribute content that appeals to our audience of customers and prospects.
  • Identify and collaborate with external resources—including customers, partners, freelancers, and vendors—to develop, write, edit, and distribute content 
  • Help manage and maintain all the behind-the-scenes systems and processes that keep us running like a well-oiled machine: editorial calendars, content inventories, analytics, etc.
  • Ghost write blog posts on behalf of Granular executives
  • Evaluate content and content opportunities, and envisioning ways it can be used to generate relevant customer engagement at all brand ecosystem touchpoints.
  • Creating overarching editorial POV, editorial strategy, content matrixes, and editorial calendars so content is engaging and consistent across all channels.

Our ideal candidate 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably a mix of journalism and marketing
  • Experience working in agriculture is a bonus
  • An established track record in crafting successful marketing content, including email series for campaigns, blog posts, and customer stories.
  • Firm grasp of SEO best practices for writing digital content
  • Experience managing in-house writers and/or freelancers/agencies
  • Experience with creating content for the web and knowledge of best practices for different social media channels.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with an innate attention to detail.
  • A proven nose for news, the ability to turn ideas into compelling concepts/copy, and experience finding avenues for distributing and sharing content where customers and prospects will find it
  • The ability to flexibly adapt your writing style to match our corporate personality and brand
  • Ability to analyze and present content and social performance
  • Strong project management skills and experience working successfully and independently with cross-functional teams
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
