HELIX Facilities Technician Salary in the United States

In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, Helix is leveraging its expertise and infrastructure to develop and deploy more scalable and sensitive COVID-19 testing as well as accelerate research on the influence of genetics on COVID-19 infection and severity.

As a Facilities Technician you will:

Be involved daily in the day to day operations of our amazing facilities and be considered an all-rounder with no task too big to handle. 

• Maintain and troubleshoot systems including HVAC, Lighting, & plumbing
• Provide support to laboratory staff 
• Assist with relocating equipment as required
• Comply with all safety procedures and requirements
• Maintain compliance to City, County, State ordinances and codes
• Support any after-hours building needs and activities as required
• Attend training sessions and seminars; and any other assigned tasks as requested
• Perform weekly inspections & tests on safety equipment
• Coordinating vendors to perform repairs & service
• Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems; 
• Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, and building repairs
• Perform facility inspections and report on conditions affecting operations
• Work closely with vendors regarding facility maintenance
• Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, BMS system, fire/life safety, and other systems

Required:

• 4+ years working in a Facilities, Technical, Operations, Maintenance position
• Must be a self-starter
• Ability to multitask and troubleshoot
• High attention to detail and accuracy, performs quality work, continuously looks for improvements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• A can-do, team-oriented attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate across disciplines
• Location in the San Diego area

Pluses:

• HVAC, Electrical, Technician experience 
• Building Operations/Manager Certification (BOC Certified)

Additional Information:

• Monday through Friday: 40 hours total (1 hour for meals and breaks)  
• Weekends - Emergencies - as needed

*This role will be payrolled through a temp agency - as this will be a long term contract role
