Summary

Cleans rooms, halls, and lobbies of hotel/motel/lobbies by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcomes guests courteously and enthusiastically.
• Engages in conversation with guests in order to be source of local information.
• Sort, count, fold, mark, or carry linens.
• Replenishes supplies in rooms, halls, carts, and lobbies.
• Courteously and enthusiastically Greets.
• Renders personal assistance to guests.
• Moves furniture, hangs drapes, and rolls carpet.
• Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
• Dusts furniture; washes walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Performs the above functions as specified by HLC’s cleaning procedures.
• Reports maintenance problems to Head Housekeeper.
• Provides security for guests by following procedures as outlined in the HLC Safety and Security Manual.
• Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Head Housekeeper and the General Manager.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Less than a high school education; or up to 1 month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skill

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
