The Iowa State University Book Store is seeking candidates for an Academic Resources Coordinator. This position will coordinate and facilitate campus outreach strategies, course material adoption process, and custom course packets for the Course Materials Division. This position also supervise the new student orientation textbook reservation and student outreach program. The Coordinator will be an advocate of course material affordability as well as provide excellent customer service and communication.
Primary duties include performing campus outreach strategies including developing and conducting presentations, surveys, and training to faculty, staff and students; collaboration and contribution on marketing, events, and public relations for course materials; conducting the course materials adoption process including maintaining course material records in the database, research availability and pricing of textbooks, maintain the student course material list by term, and assist the Buyers; facilitating the custom course packet creation with faculty including purchasing and managing inventory, and ensuring copyright permission clearance; coordinating and supervising the textbook reservation program as part of new student orientation including customer service, sales, student personnel, order fulfillment, and logistics; assist with sales and product training to store staff; support course material industry changes by staying current with market trends and best practices, including attending industry related trainings and conferences.
The successful candidate will have the ability to form positive and influential working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external customers; obtain thorough knowledge of the course materials industry and student affordability initiatives; demonstrate effective public relations and written/oral communication skills; demonstrate effective sales and service techniques; work independently as well as with a team; strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. Candidate must embrace appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions including strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
The Iowa State University Book Store is open 7 days a week, therefore duties of this position require the ability to work rotating shifts as Supervisor on Duty for store closing and weekends.
