Attendance & Front Desk Assistant - Competencies, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
Lighthouse Community Charter High School is looking for an Attendance Clerk/Front Desk Assistant who will be primarily responsible for direct follow up with students and families where the student is missing classes or failing to submit required work during the distance learning day. Additionally, the Attendance & Front Desk Assistant will provide support for the in-person functioning of our front desk to screen visitors and restrict access to our sites during the pandemic. Work closely with the Assistant Principal and Dean of Students to execute outreach and attendance boosting activities and targeted communications strategy.
Monitor daily period attendance (excused and unexcused)and tardies for high school students.
Follow up with students and communicating with parents as necessary to increase period attendance and completion of work, by phone, email, and other methods as required.
Use the School’s student information system and learning management system to track attendance, run reports, and monitor student response to communications and interventions.
Update student information and family contact information in preferred school systems, as needed.
Type, draft, proofread, and prepare memos, as needed; primarily as relates to attendance support work.
Be the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and families to the school.
Conduct health screening and wellness checks of visitors, staff, and students as required by COVID Health & Safety policy and limiting access to the school’s campus to only required staff and students.
Maintain an orderly, calm, and effective front office environment.
Receive, screen, and route telephone calls; answer questions, or refer to appropriate staff person.
Intake, manage, sort, and, in some cases, respond to mail, as needed and under direction of the Office Manager.
Provide oral interpretation services for Spanish-speaking families and students, as needed, to interact with School staff.
Communicate with and support families, students, and staff regarding emergency situations (e.g. students needing early pick up, feeling ill, etc.), on an as-needed basis..
Additional Responsibilities include:

We are are looking for front office support staff who exhibit competencies in each of our five tenets:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong “customer service” ethic and ability to connect with students & families.
Able to work independently and with minimal supervision once clearly trained on systems and scripts.

Associate’s degree or completion of the equivalent of 2 years of college coursework, required
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
1+ years of experience in an administrative role (e.g. office assistant, administrative assistant, etc.)
Bilingual in Spanish, required
SUPERVISION:
This position reports to the High School Assistant Principal.
TIME COMMITMENT:
This is a full-time (1.0FTE) hourly non-exempt role for the remainder of the 20-21 school year.
Common Building Hours: 8:30-4:30pm daily. Exact Hours to be determined in conjunction with supervisor. Requires the ability to work in person some to all days of the week. While some remote work may be approved, generally will require working in-person at minimum 3-4 days per week.
