Director of Admissions 

 

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions is primarily responsible for meeting new student enrollment targets by creating a comprehensive admissions strategy, leading and directing new student recruitment, application processing, and managing the admissions department at Marymount California University. The Director is expected to develop data-informed recruitment plans to meet enrollment goals, monitor the daily work of the admissions team, and cultivate internal and external relationships that will contribute to enrollment growth.

 

SOME ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Promote and represent the mission, vision and values of Marymount California University.
  • Responsible for meeting annual enrollment goals and creating an annual recruitment plan to attract and enroll domestic and international students. 
  • Develop admissions strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to the strategic planning process. This includes establishing functional objectives, goals and action steps in line with organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing in the development of marketing communications targeting prospective students throughout the recruitment cycle, recruitment collateral, promotional items, and the admissions-related sections of the website.
  • Oversee strategic enrollment and recruitment projects in the Admissions Office. This includes outreach efforts, communication development and execution, ownership of key initiatives in the CRM system, recruiting policy and procedures. Understands and values the recruitment of underrepresented student populations and working with diverse students.
  • Develops and monitors a departmental operating budget; provides for fiscal accountability and effective fund management to ensure the effective utilization of funds for priority operations.
  • In conjunction with the Vice President, directs and manages the admissions/recruitment division including hiring, training, coaching, and providing professional development direction for admission staff. Conducts annual performance appraisal and goal-setting.
  • Ensure that staff are appropriately managing territories and are held accountable for goals and yield as set by management.
  • Closely monitors the enrollment funnel and other statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Directs, oversees, and presents at on-campus recruitment events, including Preview Days, Information Sessions, Open House, Admitted Students Day, and others as defined.
  • Cultivates and maintains close working relationships with key high school and community colleges in order to develop enrollment partnerships and recruitment opportunities.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible admission experience in higher education which includes extensive experience with staff supervision and development.
