Job Summary

The Home Care Assistant is a crucial member of the Messiah Lifeways At Home team, who provides personal care and related services to clients according to the Care Plan developed with the client and/or family, under the supervision of the Messiah Lifeways At Home Lead Caregiver. The Home Care Assistant has access to clients' care plans, monthly schedules, and a list of clients in need of service through internal software and company email. Work is assigned by matching clients' needs with caregivers' abilities and schedule availability.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Performs personal care tasks related to personal hygiene and physical needs in accordance with the client's Care Plan. These tasks could include assisting an individual with bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
• Prepares client meals and assists with feeding a client if necessary.
• Assists client with transferring and ambulation. This could include transferring client with the aid of a mechanical lift when properly trained.
• Reminds clients to take medications.
• Assists client with instrumental activities of daily living, such as socialization, transportation needs, housekeeping, and/or errands.
• After completing specific training and demonstrating competence, may provide assistance with technology/computer training, non-skilled home maintenance services, and/or home exercise programs.
• Completes client notes on assigned clients on the appropriate forms and submits it with paperwork bi-weekly.

Job Standards

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance (if transporting clients).
• Must have a strong desire to work with older adults.
• Must have strong customer service skills.
• Previous experience in home care, nursing home, or hospital setting is desired.
• Maintenance of certifications if applicable.
