To be responsible for the quality of software and systems that are developed both internally and by third party vendors. To work closely with business departments and analysts to understand business requirements, define testing plans and test requirements, and work closely with software developers to review software in development, execute test cases and provide feedback, including reporting problems and projecting timelines for completion.
Understand testing principles, concepts and implementation approaches. Be knowledgeable about the business, data and testing requirements.
Execute tests using manual testing, testing scripts, and automated testing to validate the quality and acceptability of software applications. Track details and use methodical processes to maintain an effective testing strategy. Manage defect and test case progress reporting and communicate with stakeholders. Share status of testing progress and forecast timeframes to complete tasks.
Adhere to and promote the use of established standards and guidelines. Participate in collaborative processes to enhance and develop standards and guidelines as appropriate. Recognize technology, practices, and standards that are not effective or efficient and suggest solutions to correct.
Required: Strong computer skills and understanding of software development and quality assurance principals required. Ability to develop testing strategy, testing plans, and execute test cases required. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form in a clear and concise manner required. Willingness to participate in systems and insurance training classes required. Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies, and associated development/testing processes (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, etc.) required. Knowledge of case modeling and process modeling techniques required. Knowledge of technologies such as SQL (MSSQL), XML, scripting languages (Java, VBA, etc.), and MS Office automation (specifically Excel macro/VBA) required.
Preferred: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in business technology, computer science or business administration preferred, or equivalent experience may be considered. Experience in insurance domain preferred. Experience performing software testing preferred.
