Perform high-level and accurate accounting support to internal and external customers.

Reporting Relationship: Financial Services Management Team
  1. Serve as a key team member within the Financial Services Department
    • Perform all college accounts payable functions in compliance with College procedures.
    • Work closely with College teams to track capital budget balances and assist with capital purchasing procedures
    • Perform all College purchasing functions, including processing purchase orders, p-cards, coordinating requests for quotes, requests for proposals (RFP), bids (IFB), etc. for the purchase of College items, following all College, District, state, and federal statutes.
    • Perform all Foundation accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statement preparation, investment allocations, donor gift tracking, and tax report preparation. 
    • Perform a variety of general accounting tasks including budget transfer and journal entry posting; compilation and analyzation of financial reports; and scanning, linking and routing in the electronic filing system.
    • Monitor daily banking activity, prepare bank statement reconciliations, and process sales tax reports. 
    • Prepare reports and backup for the annual financial audit and participate in the onsite audit for the College and the Foundation. 
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
    • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
    • Provide high level support to the Financial Services area, which includes effective interaction with internal and external customers to answer questions, provide information and assistance, respond to concerns in a pleasant and professional manner, and perform duties of office functions as assigned.
    • Monitor and adhere to established Financial Services timelines and schedules including any reoccurring annual activities and deadlines.
    • Analyze and document Financial Services processes and procedures to make informed recommendations, improvements and efficiencies.
       
  2. Work as a team to ensure there is office coverage during all hours of operation, including assistance in other departments as the need arises. In the absence of other team members, perform duties of office functions as assigned.

  • Associate degree in Accounting required with a minimum of three (3) years of occupational experience in the accounting field.
  • Governmental agency and/or non-profit accounting experience preferred. 
  • Must possess demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in general accounting practices and principles. 
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in using computer technologies, including development and maintenance of detailed financial spreadsheets, database software, and word processing software. 
  • Must be customer-focused with an ability to handle sensitive situations and people in a discreet confidential matter.  Requires strong verbal and written communication skills, initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness. 
  • Must have the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities, complete projects timely and accurately, and work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities.
