The Business Development Manager is responsible for the sales and execution of customized training solutions and consulting that contributes to a stronger workforce by helping to achieve company’s strategic employee development goals. In addition, recruit and maintain strong instructor relationships to enable delivery of value-added training programs. Contribute to the success of the college by meeting revenue goals for the Workforce Training and Professional Development (WTPD) department.   

As a member of Leadership, the Business Development Manager will portray a broad institutional perspective that supports the College's mission, vision, and goals while fostering and creating an environment that strives to anticipate and meet customer needs.  A Leader will support a shared leadership culture through participation in and facilitation of teams.  

In addition, Leaders will live NTCs operating principles of integrity, respect, learning, collaboration, responsibility, innovation, and service.

  • Solve complex problems and identify innovative solutions and processes for business and industry to support talent recruitment, skill enhancement, and employee retention. 
  • Contacts and develops relationships with new and potential customers to purchase NTC customized training and consulting services.
  • Acts as NTC ambassador to promote all NTC and Workforce Training Professional Development Solutions training opportunities that may be of benefit to district employers.
  • Research training subject(s) and apply instructional systems design methods to determine the best mode of instructional delivery, design of the program, program length, credit or career pathway, and tools to evaluate the program’s success.  
  • Research, recruit, and select subject matter expert(s) to further assess the training/consulting needs.
  • Establish proposal costs to include direct cost (instructor pay and materials) and operating margin.
  • Create and present training proposals to business leaders.  
  • Coordinates delivery and evaluation of customer satisfaction of contracted services.
  • Meets pre-established goals for various job performance parameters including among other things, revenue, number of contacts, new product development and individual action plans.
  • Manage the Customer Relationship Management System (Salesforce) for sales assignments, entering leads, new client/company contacts, and training programs for tracking and reporting.
  • Works with NTC Divisional Deans, Regional Directors, Advisory Committees and others to coordinate services provided to district employers.
  • Works with college grants office staff to identify grants opportunities for workforce training. With grants office staff, assists in grant procurement and execution process.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships and provides excellent customer service to new and existing clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Communications, or related field, Masters preferred.
  • Preferred minimum of two years of successful industry selling experience.  Educational sales experience preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered

  • Ability to self-direct, meet established performance goals and follow-through on tasks.
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and the ability to meet NTC's insurance carrier's standards.

Working Activity:

6 to 8 hours:  Grasping, performing repetitive movements and working indoors

Less than 1 hour:  Climbing, crawling, working at heights, working in temperature extremes and working outdoors

Additional Physical Requirements:

Vision: Adequate with aid to read instructions, labels, documents, computer screens, and differentiate between colors.

 

Hearing:  Adequate with aid to understand oral requests, telephone conversation, and PA systems.

Emergency action plan, emergency procedures, ergonomics (office/workplace) and slips, trips and falls
