Immediate opening for a part-time, temporary position as a Day Porter. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Position Purpose: Clean the school restrooms, lunch area, and other venues/facilities as required following CDC sanitation guidance to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Schedule: Hours are generally 9:30 – 2:30 pm. Schedule flexibility, overtime, and/or weekend hours as required. 

Essential Functions:

Daily:

• Clean, mop, empty trash, stock, and sanitize school restrooms following CDC sanitation guidelines
• Clean, mop, empty trash, stock, and sanitize school lunch areas following CDC sanitation guidelines
• All other duties as assigned or necessary

• Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements, including school meetings, and other required events

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous janitorial/custodial preferred
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position preferred
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Ability to use cleaning equipment safely
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as daily schedules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to perform assigned duties appropriately and safely in proximity to students and staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
• Ability, willingness and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately and concisely with all constituents in the school community
• Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the School

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Ability to climb and use ladders safely, 2’ – 24’
• Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
• Works primarily in a traditional climate controlled environment
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, turns, bends, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
• Occasionally required to climb ladders up to 24’, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Regularly uses close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• May stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to visually and audibly locate students and staff in the proximity of maintenance work being performed
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; and vibration
• Occasionally exposed to loud noise
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with approved equipment
